i loved it! ordered the spaghetti with branzino & panna cotta for dessert & it was all delicious. incredibly simple & well executed dishes, with a very nice emphasis on good ingredients.
the spaghetti was a great meal, & a nice contrast between the richness of the sauce & the bright flavour of the cherry tomatoes. honestly i found that the fish didn't really need to be in there at all, it would have been just as good if not better as a vegetarian dish.
panna cotta was great too, i loved that the main flavour was really the fresh sweet cream, with some slight hints of lemon & vanilla.
the rest of the table ordered the filet mignon, fettucini ragu, beet salad, & eggplant parmigiana, as well as the lava cake & lemon tart for dessert, & everyone was quite happy with their food. lovely place for a very special occasion, as its quite pricey & the service is a lot more involved & upscale than i am typically used to!
Located on the north side of Laurier (west of Parc) along a stripe with a number of other restaurants, Il Pagliaccio is a more classical type of locale serving traditional Italian cuisine. The style & feel is in keeping with this, with white linen table clothes & many four seating tables & a relatively smallish sized space. In addition, there is an upper level with a private room that would hold from 8 to 20 people. In order to accommodate our party, the restaurant graciously set us up in this room given that it was full on the night of our dinner...so it was an even better meal that expected. For our meal, we enjoyed Endive Salad (a classic...very good), a Beet Salad (also very good), Spaghetti Vongole (very good) & Piccata Limone (with a thicker veal cut, but a smaller portion of vegetables...but still very good). For dessert it was a very nice, although a bit too moist, Tiramisu. Overall a very enjoyable meal with attentive & friendly service. Enjoy!
