About us
Located in an enchanting setting on the shores of the Lachine Canal, Il Fornetto is a perfect place to offer oneself a moment of relaxation and change of scenery without having to leave the city. Inside, the rustic-inspired though modern décor is particularly pleasant. Yet it is above all for its superb, double-level terrace looking out directly over the canal that people love this place. Open from early in spring until late in autumn, the terrace welcomes you to come and enjoy beautiful the sunsets.
Il Fornetto’s menu takes on the appearance of an encyclopaedia of Italian cuisine. The selection is impressive and includes all of the staples: pastas available as a full dish or half portion, which is great for an entrée, various antipasti and veal and the most important staple of them all, pizza baked in a real wood-burning oven. Here, it is particularly delicious, crispy and topped with the freshest ingredients. Not surprisingly, this restaurant – open since 1987 – shows no sign of slowing down.

I got exactly what I wanted. I stopped by to get takeaway pizza. I was tired & hungry. All I really wanted to do was get in & out. It was a busy Friday night, with a lineup of reservation seekers almost out the door. Yet I was served immediately & my order was taken. Ten minutes later & as promised, I had my pizza. I had the bacon pizza. It was delicious as usual. FYI, probably contributing to the short wait, Il Fornetto only makes single serving size pizzas.View more

via LibroNous étions 2. Nous avons pris une pizza chaque. Elle était délicieuse. Cependant, une pizza a été commandé avec extra sauce & moins de fromage (la margharita). J'ai été TRÈS étonnée que 2$ de frais ont été ajouté sur l'addition pour la sauce extra. J'ai trouvé ça très ordinaire & ça m'a déçu de votre part.

Thank you for hosting us♥️. We had a nice dinner with a group of 8 people & were seated upstairs. The service is really outstanding, the staff is attentive, very friendly & professional & well organized. The food was good & served within a short time even though the restaurant was full. The restaurant has a real pizza oven which makes the pizza really delicious. Also the coffee had a nice flavor. All in all we are happy about the choice of restaurant & will definitely come back.View more
via LibroThe fish of the day dish was very disappointing & we left most of it on the plate. The pizza was excellent. I had made a reservation for two. When we arrived at the restaurant there were many tables open. The host showed us two tables with seating for two to choose from, neither was ideal. There were other tables for four open but no one seated there. We had to choose between one of the two smaller tables. We noticed during our lunch that several of the tables for four only had only two people seated at them. Why were we given an inferior table when those who arrived later were given the more space & better located ones The waiter's service was excellent however.

via LibroBonjour j'adore votre restaurant & j'y vais aux 2 mois environ. Hier soir je n'ai pas osé rien dire mais vraiment la pizza était extra salée. J'aurais dû la retourner mais c'est toujours délicat de faire cela. Je me suis demandé s'il était possible que le serveur-assistant ait utilisé le moulin à sel au lieu du moulin à poivre. En tous cas c'était pas normal.

via LibroQuality of food, service etc is always excellent. Last nigh we had caesar salad with pizza combo. Pizza was excellent. The salad unfortunately was not. It was bland lacking salt & anchovies? Not much taste to it. I would not order that again. We will be back. This is the first plate that we had that was not up to your standards. Cheers

On partage une petite salade césar au coût de 15.$ elle était sans saveur, sans bacon, sans citron. Plutôt banal comme entrée.
Ma fille prend une pizza saumon fumé & fait savoir après en avoir consommé la moitié qu’elle ne peut en manger davantage car elle trop cuite & impossible à couper avec un couteau à steak en plus.
Je prend une lasagne, & après un délai plus long, je reçois un morceau de lasagne style Costco nappée d’une sauce au goût de chef Boyardee. Belle expérience n’est ce pas. Tirer vos conclusions.View more

via LibroTwo of us ordered same pizza Bella Italia which has mushrooms which is one of the reason I picked this combination pizza. They both came with no mushrooms as the waiter or he said the cook got confused cause someone had order a pasta no mushroom. I thought they were underneath. After eating a slice & a half we both saw neither of us had mushrooms. When we mentioned this to him he left saying I will see what I could do. His solution was to offer me & the other person a coffee at the end of our meal. I said nothing as my children were with me but this was really disappointing & unacceptable. People work hard for their money & to get 2 pizzas at 26.00 a pizza & have an ingredient missing to no fault of ours certainly is disapointing to be offered a coffee. & the other person did not even drink coffee. Most establishments make it right when it is their mistake. Unfortunately I felt very disappointed on how it was handled. Thank you for reading my comment.

Attention a la qualité de la nourriture. C'a fait qqes années que je viens chez vous & hier soir était très moyen.
1) attention qualité du fromage & de la coupe des tomates pour la salade caprese
2) attention à la trop petite portion du carpacio & trop d'huile sur la salade
3) la pizza a une croute to dure ou les couteaux ne sont pas bons. A revoir car l'expérience n'est vraimnet pas agréable. La présentation de la pizza n'est pas belle. Allez voir ce qui est fait ailleurs.
Au total, nous avons dépnsé 160$ chez vous hier soir & pour ce prix, je m'attends à un autre niveau.
J'espère que mes observations serviront à vous remettre en question & vous améliorer.

via LibroService excellent. Gentillesse & rapidité. Les plats typiquement italiens manquent. Beaucoup de pizzas & pâtes, on aimerait voir plus d'originalité. J'avais souvenir de nappes blanches & d'une cuisine plus soignée. On sent que la pandémie a affecté l'offre de service. On est un peu déçu.

First & last time eating at Il Fornetto!! I was really looking forward to experiencing this restaurant & having veal limone with pasta but the restaurant was unwilling to change the tomato sauce on the pasta for garlic & olive oil which is fairly easy to make & already on their menu. I was even willing to pay a surcharge for a substitution. The waiter did however suggest that I order 2 meals! Ridiculous & not focused on customer satisfaction. Instead, I enjoyed cold pizza with uncooked mushrooms & the worst cesear salad I've ever had.
I can pretty much guarantee better Italian restaurants in the city. I would strongly recommend going somewhere else or bringing your own food & having a picnic in the park across the street.
via LibroFood was amazing A bit hot as they had all their sliding doors open so if you suffer from heat / humidity I would not go during the day but rather at night My Aunt doesn't eat veal & lots of their dishes are veal so we ending up having pizza & salad. Pizza was amazing
via LibroJe suis plutôt déçue, je venais régulièrement mais ils ont changer la carte, il n'y a même plus de pizza quatre fromages, ils ne sont pas capable d'offrir des petites salade d'accompagnement avec les pizzas à un prix raisonnable, à la place il t'amène une salade mesclun avec un simple assaisonnement qu'il te font payer 14$ c'est franchement du vol car ça ne doit même pas coûter 1$ d'ingrédient. Sinon à part ça c'était bon & le service était bien.
