Review Summary

Overall, Ici Restaurant Coréen comes across as a tiny, cozy spot with a whimsical vibe where friendly service shines even when busy. Dishes like spicy beef and spicy fishcake kimbap, bulgogi, kimchi, and a range of kimbap and tteokbokki are praised for fresh flavors and generous portions at affordable prices, with snow crab kimbap becoming a favorite for some. A handy order screen with photos helps customize orders and minimize ingredient guesswork. The space is very small, with only two tables, which adds to the charm but can limit dine-in options and there is no bathroom inside. The atmosphere, decor, and mom-and-pop feel contribute to a comforting, nostalgic mood that makes this a go-to for Korean comfort food in Montreal, though a few experiences note some dishes falling short of expectations, particularly the Korean fried chicken which sometimes seemed like a side rather than a main, and portions that felt small.

Entering here immediately transported us to Korea, like we just entered a typical small shop. Gimbap looks similar to sushi rolls but is an entirely different flavor, many cooked meats like beef available. We added the Bong Bong combo to one order & it came with delicious chicken & nice fruit like fresh cherries & blackberries. There was Korean pop music playing & the decor is fun, including a tiny library. You can also buy dried ramen packs flavors here that are hard to find like kimchi. Only 4 to 6 people total can sit, which adds to the overall experience of a genuine simple Korean shop. The host is very kind & makes you feel at home. You pay when you order from the big computer touchscreen, so no waiting for the bill at the end.

I've been looking for a korean restaurant that specializes in kimbaps for a long time. I was so pleasantly surprised when I found out about this restaurant! Since I was nearby, I decided to check this place out. I ended up ordering tteokbeokki & yubuchobap (spicy pork, spicy beef, spicy chicken, soy pork). I did not order a kimbap ironically because I had a kimbap already today. Everything was cooked fresh & the food came out deliciously! The portions are definitely worth the price in my opinion. The tteokbokki is more soupy than saucy but i liked how soupy it was. The flavour was spot on! Not too sweet & not too spicy. I would come back again next time to try the kimbaps for sure.
