About

Icehouse specializes in authentic Texan barbecue and vibrant Southern cuisine that emphasizes bold flavors and high quality ingredients. The menu centers on expertly seasoned fried chicken paired with house-made honey butter and spicy hot sauces that define the regional culinary profile. Diners encounter a selection of flour tortillas filled with slow-cooked proteins and fresh garnishes representing traditional taco culture. The interior reflects an unpretentious industrial aesthetic featuring rustic textures and communal seating arrangements that facilitate a direct focus on the food. Each dish relies on traditional smoking techniques to achieve deep, savory profiles throughout the extensive protein options. Review Summary

Icehouse is widely regarded as a vibrant neighborhood staple in Montreal, praised for its intimate atmosphere, friendly service, and popular comfort food dishes like fried chicken, fish tacos, and bourbon lemonade. While many patrons celebrate the restaurant for its consistent quality, lively vibe, and suitability for groups or casual nights out, others have noted recent inconsistencies in food preparation, varying portion sizes, and occasional service challenges during busy periods. Overall, it remains a go-to destination for those seeking a laid-back environment and satisfying Tex-Mex inspired meals, with most visitors highlighting the flavorful menu and inviting, homey character of the space.

Had an amazing night celebrating my 30th Birthday. The drinks & food were flowing all night & everyone had a blast! 10/10 would recommend Icehouse for a private event or for a night out to watch the Habs!!

truly our kind of place-& we can't believe it took us this long to discover it. A long-standing favorite for many, it now firmly holds that title for us too. The space is intimate & refreshingly straightforward, with great food, great drinks, & prices that feel more than fair. Every part of the experience hit just right.

The brisket sandwich was divine: melt-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly smoky, & deeply satisfying. The shrimp po' boy was phenomenal, & the fish Baja tacos were nothing short of incredible. Add to that drinks that were as fun & well-crafted as the lively atmosphere & music, & you've got a place that knows exactly what it's doing. To top it all off, the service was genuinely lovely. A total win from start to finish.

I would give Them a Thousand Stars for the delicious Soul Food, the Serene & Peaceful atmosphere, the Staff kindness, the world-class service (whistling to myself: love is in the air...lol).

Très bon resto décontracté , parfait pour passer une soirée entre amis & se partager des plats, nous avons pris un tacos & un burittos. Il y a un bon choix de bières de microbrasserie, des drinks & des beaux spéciaux pour les 5 à 7.

The place was just down from our airbnb. Two of us decided to stop in for a beer. As we walked in, we both commented on how cool the atmosphere was. Service was great that night, & the food smelled incredible. 2 nights later we went with our group of 5 for dinner. The Burritos, Nachos, & Po'Boy sandwiches were incredible, not to mention the house specialty drink, Bourbon Lemonade. The service was incredible as well. They were very welcoming. Well worth checking out!!

Came to eat with my fiancé on a cold night & they made us wait outside which was fine but after waiting almost 30 mins when we were told it would be 10 we noticed the manager/owner was letting other people sit inside & order before us. We waited another 10 minutes & another group of people were seated right when they showed up so we paid for our drinks & left. I have been before & the food is pretty good but the service is terrible, I'll never go back.

Hands down the most disappointing restaurant/bar experience I have had in Montreal. Icehouse is over priced, the food & beverages are beyond underwhelming, & their customer service is yet to be discovered.

We ordered a pitcher of Bourbon Iced Tea. As our waitress walked the five steps from the bar to our table I witnessed a fifth of the beverage wash over the floor. I requested a replenish, which the waitress agreed to & then never returned for. As my boyfriend & I finished our pitcher, we soberly asked each other if perhaps the bar forgot to add bourbon to our 40$ pitcher.

It is necessary to order food at Icehouse if you are looking to get a drink, as it does not have the licence to sell alcohol alone. We ordered tacos, 8$ for a half appetizer portion composed of the most basic, at home mexican cuisine since taco bell.

The highlight of our experience at Icehouse was our waitress forgetting to bring a friend her 40$ pitcher after ordering it three different times. I am extremely happy only one of us had to dish out 40$ for a single shot of Bourbon.

Leaving an 8% tip for our invisible waitress was the most regretful act I have made this entire summer.

Montreal is filled with small, non-franchised resto-gems. Here are some pleasing alternatives found in the same neighbourhood as Icehouse:
Else's (156 Roy Est), Dieu du Ciel (29 av Laurier Ouest), Big In Japan (4175 Boulevard Saint-Laurent), Réservoir (9 Rue Duluth Est)
