I came here with my partner to celebrate my new marathon PR at the Marathon Beneva de Montréal & it was amazing. The french onion soup was the best I've ever had, & my partner said his favourite meal throughout his entire trip was his entree: Duck Confit. The portions were fantastic & we were both amazed by how fast our food orders came up. Our server was a kind gentleman who was very attentive & polite. Would strongly recommend!

Absolutely first rate brasserie. Lovely room, professional service, fantastic food. Beef cheeks & salmon were amazing. Serving sizes were large & creatively plated. Excellent all around.

We had a family dinner with Joe our spectacular server who made the evening very memorable. The food was extremely delicious but the service made the evening even better. So nice to see service & friendliness has not completely disappeared in Montreal. Bravo!!!

Personnel accueillant mais stressé donc ça se reflète sur l'ambiance & le service
Jai pris un Hanger Streak sec & trop cuit par rapport à la cuisson que j'ai demandée. Les frites sont tres grasses & pas du tt appétissantes pour un restaurant gastronomique.

J'ai été ravie par la qualité & le goût de mon assiette. Bravo au chef. L'endroit est vraiment jolie aussi. Par contre, le service reçu était pour ma part très décevant; je n'est jamais vu un serveur ne pas me proposer de boisson, de dessert ou de café dans d'autres restaurant. La personne à noter mon plat & s'est littéralement sauvée donc j'ai dû me contenter de la très maigre portion que j'ai reçu. Pour le prix, je suis resté sur ma faim; s'est pas l'unique tranche de baguette qui a compensé. De plus, se faire remplir la moitié de son verre d'eau & le déposer de l'autre côté de la table le rendant inacessible était plutôt ordinaire. Donc je suis mitigée par mon expérience personnelle.

Holder is a restaurant where you can expect Superbly executed French standard cuisine, a bustling yet relaxed brasserie atmosphere & more importantly, exceptional service. The wait staff will adjust the pace of service to your desires; if you want to be in & out in 45 minutes, that can be done; if however you want to have time to enjoy yourself between the apéro & the apetizers & the main course, that can be done, & the friendly staff will be more than accommodating.

I have been to Holder a few times over the years but it has gone downhill of late relying not on the quality of food & service but rather a constant stream of tourists.
In August 2025..... the steak was quite chewy & dry & the duck dry while portions had both shrunk & prices inflated. Service was slow too. Find somewhere else to go.

I arrived to Montreal from Ontario & had to come here. I made a late reservation & they still accepted me. I was given an excellent window seat, & felt extremely welcomed. My server was wonderful. I started with 24 oysters. They tasted good & were fresh ($2 each). I paired it with a Prosecco! Afterwards I had the duck confit. It was delicious! The duck could've been juicer, but overall the flavour & textures were wonderful. Truly a beautiful experience with fast reliable service. I ended the night with a night cap, a boulevardier! Everything was tasty, fresh & worth it. I highly recommend this place for some French cuisine!
