My husband & I ate here for our first Japanese BBQ experience ever, & it was hands down one of the best dining experiences we've had in our lives. We're already planning our next trip to Montreal, & this place is at the top of our list to return to!

Overall fantastic experience. We were a group of 2 & took one of their predetermined courses menu, it was plenty enough food for both of us to both feel full & still got to try a nice variety. They also had some imported Japanese beers which were excellent & which I have not found elsewhere in the city yet. Overall definitely recommend visiting at least once, & if you live in the area they do have a free membership with bonuses & discounts which I could see being very appealing if you enjoy this style of eating out!View more

Amazing restaurant! My husband & I went there for dinner on a Friday night around 8 p.m. The place was busy, but we were pleasantly surprised by the short wait time-our table was ready in just 10 minutes. The service was excellent, the food was absolutely delicious, & the atmosphere was warm & inviting. In addition to our main dishes, we decided to try two desserts: the Petite Gateau & the S'mores. While the S'mores were delightful, I wasn't a fan of the Petite Gateau-it had a subtle coconut aftertaste that didn't suit my personal preference. That small detail aside, everything else exceeded our expectations, & we had a fantastic dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant & can't wait to return!View more

A classic Japanese bbq restaurant. All you can eat with high quality products all of which were pure in flavor. I definitely recommend going here with friends & enjoy some time cooking some yummy food. The service was great. We always got our food a few minutes after we put in our order no matter how large. I've been a regular here for the last 5 years & would say this is EASILY my favorite resto in the city, even including all the high end places. AMAZING variety of dishes to choose from (I HIGHLY suggest the Prime Kalbi rib with miso marinade, the takoyaki, the garlic rice bowl with extra garlic chips, spicy korean chigae tofu soup) & the staff are simply wonderful (especially Mel & Kate). Bobby, the manager, is a total sweetheart & very attentive. Even though I'm only a client, I consider him & some of the staff "family." I've taken at least 50 dates here to impress them & it's been a 100% success ratio. Can't recommend this place enough. Thank you.View more

I recently visited Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ on August 11th, & I must say, the experience was exceptional from start to finish. As a "BBQ aficionado", I opted for the Meat Lover's option, & I was initially concerned it might not be enough. To my surprise, it was more than sufficient-so much so that even with my hearty appetite, I found myself struggling to finish the last few bites! The service was phenomenal. Our waiter, whose name I regret not asking, was outstanding. He provided excellent explanations of all the dishes & checked in on us regularly. Despite the restaurant being full, the dishes came out quickly & in a steady flow-within 10 minutes, our table was completely filled. Even though I wasn't in the best mood that evening due to unrelated reasons, the food & service completely turned my night around. The atmosphere was lively but not overly loud, & the table separators added a nice touch of privacy. I left Gyu-Kaku feeling completely satisfied & eager to return. This restaurant was so yummy, I had such a good time going. First time trying this place & it definitely exceeded our expectations! We arrived without a reservation but the staff was incredibly accommodating & managed to find us a table. Our server, Lawrence, was top-notch! He was attentive & made sure we had everything we needed. As huge BBQ fans, we've tried our fair share of places, but this one takes the cake! Fun experience, delicious food, & fantastic service! I highly recommend this restaurant! I was with my two teen daughters & their friend, & the four of us ordered the 3-person combo with a couple extra plates of apps, & it was way more than enough food for us. My teens & I are now entering meat coma stage but loved every minute of it. They've said that this dining experience was the highlight of our trip to Montreal! I recently dined at Gyu-Kaku, a Japanese BBQ haven, & the experience left me delighted. The ambiance was inviting, & the overall setting of the place added to the enjoyment of our evening. Opting for the combo for 4 people, along with two varieties of sushi & a delightful pichet of Sakura, our taste buds were in for a treat. The food was not only delicious but also served in portions that were just right for our party of four. The combination of grilling our own meats at the table & savoring the sushi added a dynamic aspect to the meal, making it interactive & engaging. The standout, however, was the Sakura cocktail pichet. Not only was it exceptionally good, but the size of the pichet was also generous, ensuring that our glasses were always filled, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening. In summary, my overall experience at Gyu-Kaku was nothing short of delightful. The delectable food, pleasant ambiance, & the standout Sakura cocktail made it an evening to remember. Good Japanese BBQ place. Service can be a little patchy during busy times but they are friendly & do their best. If you order fattier cuts, be aware that they have some rules about how many pieces you can cooked & be served at the same time as the grill can catch fire. It's a good thing because they have real fire which means your food will taste great.

Food is awesome.
But the most awesome thing is their staff.
Really good customer service.
Recommend to reserve for weekend nights sometimes Friday.
