Review Summary

Reviewers describe Gibeau Orange Julep as an iconic Montreal landmark with a giant orange facade, a retro vibe, and a signature creamy orange juice that many call among the best or most distinctive, even if some find it overly sweet and the prices high for fast food. The poutine and hot dogs are frequently mentioned as solid comfort options, though quality can be uneven and fries can be soggy. The overall appeal centers on the experience and atmosphere, making it feel like a nostalgic Montreal rite of passage, especially when combined with ample parking and open late. Service is often praised for speed and friendliness, while crowds and touristy energy can be a turnoff for locals, and seating is limited, which can push the place toward takeaway. Many reviews agree the juice is the star and worth a visit, with the location and history adding to the appeal, even when other menu items miss the mark or the price tag feels steep.

The juice is tooo sweet = too much more
sugar than normal orange juice. No place to sit down to drink. No service but tips are to be paid on their cashier machine

An iconic Montreal stop!

Gibeau Orange Julep is a must-visit, & it absolutely lives up to its reputation. The orange drink is the star - perfectly sweet, creamy, & incredibly refreshing. It has that classic nostalgic flavour you can't find anywhere else, & it's worth the visit alone.

The poutine was also very satisfying: crispy fries, generous cheese curds, & a rich, flavourful gravy that ties everything together. It's comforting, classic Quebec fast food done right.

Add in the fun atmosphere & the famous giant orange, & you've got a uniquely Montreal experience. Whether you're a local or visiting for the first time, Orange Julep is always a great stop.

It is a big orange & I got a big orange julep & then I ate about a pound of fries & a veggie pogo. So, pretty good place.

Took softy cone which was expensive $5+ & didn't taste as good as McD. There is limited standing area & no seating.

Gibeau Orange Julep - Montreal

Tried it mainly to see what all the hype was about. I only had the orange juice & honestly it tasted overly sweet-more sugar than orange. When everything is loaded with sugar & sauces, it's bound to taste okay, but this wasn't for me. The juice was very small for almost $5, which felt overpriced. The exterior design is definitely interesting & iconic, & service was quick & friendly. Glad I checked it off the list, but I wouldn't go back.

My first time trying the orange julep, & the flavor was not that sweet but interesting. Visiting felt like an adventure, & the location, complete with the giant orange is quite amusing. It's a fun stop & a unique landmark in Montreal!

I don't think it was amazing, it's overall okay but a bit overpriced perhaps due to how it's supposedly famous & iconic.

There is zero seating inside, which is odd considering how much parking space there is. A few standing tables but it can be a bit of a squeeze & it's dim & not a very nice sit down place.

I think it mainly serves as a takeaway place.

The food wasn't fantastic either, it was alright but didn't blow our minds or whatever.
