Le designer Jacques Gaspo du groupe Foodtastic (derrière La Belle & La Boeuf, Souvlaki Bar, Carlos & Pepe’s, Le Blossom, les nouveaux Nickels et Bacaro Pizzeria) a développé Gatto Matto pendant deux ans. Un concept révolutionnaire et avant-gardiste Art Déco à thématique flower bar qui est une fusion entre Chicago et l’Italie. Utilisant des matériaux premiums dessinés et fabriqués à Montréal, l’alliage des éléments se marient à merveille. Des couleurs vives et éclatantes donnent un facteur WOW qui vous ferait sentir comme dans un hôtel moderne de Milan avec une touche girly. La création de la cuisine à aire ouverte encore jamais vu à Montréal (en collaboration avec Hagop Hagopian, directeur des opérations Foodtastic et expert en design cuisine) permet de voir à l’œuvre les meilleurs chefs de la région. Pas besoin de voyager, on vous amène l’Europe à votre table.
Les avis sur Gatto Matto convergent vers une expérience gourmande et animée, avec des plats italiens savoureux et un service globalement professionnel et attentif, souvent efficace et convivial. La carte met en avant des pizzas et des pâtes très appréciées, accompagnées parfois de fruits de mer ou de burrata, et des plats de viande ou de poisson qui suscitent généralement des retours positifs. I visited Gatto Matto after a round of virtual golf with a few friends, & overall, it was a very positive experience.
From the moment we arrived, the service stood out. The staff was attentive across the board-from the hostess who seated us, to our waiter, to the team members who regularly checked in, refilled water, & kept our wine topped up. One staff member in particular (I unfortunately didn't catch her name) was especially attentive & made sure everything was running smoothly at our table.
They were also patient & accommodating while we waited for friends who were delayed due to traffic & parking issues following the letout of the Laval Rockets hockey game at Place Bell.
The only downside on the service side was the two-hour table limit, which, while understandable on a busy Saturday night, did add a bit of pressure to the evening.
As for the food, we started with the salmon tartare & grilled octopus-both were well-prepared & flavorful. For mains, my wife had a Pizza Burrata & I had a pasta with guanciale meat, which one of my friends also ordered. The dishes were good, though I found the pasta portion a bit small, especially considering the price. That said, pricing is generally in line with what you'd expect for pasta in Montreal.
The wine selection was decent but nothing remarkable. Like most restaurants, prices start around $50 per bottle, & while acceptable, the quality didn't quite match the cost-I've had better at that price point.
We also looked into the meat platter, which ranges from roughly $150 to $180 for two to three people. While it includes premium items like lobster tails & shrimp, it still feels expensive compared to similar platters at smokehouse-style restaurants.
Overall, the food was good, the service was excellent, & the experience was enjoyable. It's on the pricier side, but still a place I would return to.

The service we received was very good.
The food we received was ok. I ordered a pasta with tomato sauce & I asked for bread. I shouldn't have to ask in an Italian restaurant, but I had to.
The bread I received was terrible. Let's not forget this is supposed to be a decent italian restaurant. The 2 slices of bread were like melba toast. Hard with no substance. The kicker is that we spent almost $250 for a meal for & they had the hutspa to charge us $1.50 for those 2 lousy pieces of bread. We have averaged 2 visits a month over the past year or so but they won't be seeing my money any time soon. This was the true meaning of PENNY WISE & POUND FOOLISH not too say very insulting......
Genuinely impressed with the food. Pasta was especially well made. I was disappointed with the level of service. Needed to call the waitress several times. Unfortunate.
Expensive for what it is. I ordered a carbonara for $31 & the portion was surprisingly small. When I asked for some bread to go with my pasta, they told me it would cost an extra $7. Honestly, that's ridiculous. An Italian restaurant charging for bread? Bread should be a given when you're ordering pasta.
Pasta portions are very small for the price I payed. Pizza was good but was not impressed by the pasta. Was expecting a decent sized bowl for the price but when I saw it come I was shocked by how small it was & was still hungry after my meal.
Had seafood pasta..it was mediocre. Service the same..our wine arrived when we were half way through our meals & were told'we're very busy' by the waiter. Music is loud, hard to have a conversation but this is fine you like that sort of thing. We would have appreciated being told in advance that there was a gala tonight & that there would be limited free parking space. If you dont park on P13 (designated for the restaurant) the parking staff will make you pay upon exit. Although a few staff at Gatto Matto assured me I didnt have to pay since P13 was full, that wasn't the case.
Food was good was decent . The pizza was too doughy on the crust. The appetizers was the star of the meal very crispy & perfectly cooked calamari. The pistachio pasta was also pretty good. The fior di late tagliatelle was very basic something that I was expecting to be a lot better. Our server was amazing explained the menu well kept our water refilled. The atmosphere on the other hand was not great, the music was super loud, to speak across the table we had to almost yell. Ended the night with Tylenol for a headache. The music could lowered a little bit & it would be a perfect evening.

My wife & I visited Gatto Matto Laval on February 15, & I wanted to take a moment to share our experience. I've been here before, & every visit reinforces why this place is so special.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm & inviting, with a spotless interior & convenient indoor parking. The staff is incredibly welcoming, making you feel like a VIP from start to finish.
The food? Absolutely top-notch. Gatto Matto delivers consistently outstanding quality, taste, & presentation. From the fresh bread & vibrant salads to the perfectly cooked pasta, steak, & expertly crafted cocktails, everything is exceptional in both quality & value.
A special shoutout to our waiter, Nuno, who provided fantastic service with a friendly & attentive approach. He truly enhanced our dining experience.
What I love most about Gatto Matto is how it encourages me to explore new flavors. Their creative & well-balanced combinations have introduced me to tastes I wouldn't have tried elsewhere.
Without a doubt, this is my favorite restaurant. We'll definitely be back soon!
I had an incredible dining experience at Gatto Matto! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was vibrant & stylish, with a perfect mix of modern & classic Italian charm. The service was outstanding-our server was friendly, knowledgeable, & attentive without being intrusive. The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish was beautifully presented & packed with flavor. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauces were rich & well-balanced, & the ingredients tasted fresh & high-quality. The cocktail menu was also impressive, with creative & well-crafted drinks. To top it all off, the desserts were divine! The tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had-light, creamy, & full of flavor. If you're looking for an unforgettable Italian dining experience, Gatto Matto is the place to go. Highly recommend & can't wait to return!
We recently visited Gatto Matto in Laval, & while the experience wasn't bad, it didn't quite live up to our expectations compared to the Boisbriand location. The atmosphere in Laval was nice enough, & the staff were friendly, but the food didn't impress us as much as we remembered from the Boisbriand location. The dishes we tried felt a bit lackluster in comparison-some of the flavors were flat, & the pasta didn't have the same freshness we enjoyed at the Boisbriand spot. Overall, while the Laval location wasn't terrible, we definitely prefer the Boisbriand Gatto Matto. The food there seems more consistent & flavorful, & the vibe feels a bit more inviting. We'll be sticking to Boisbriand next time, but we hope the Laval location can improve to match the high standard set by the other one.

Great choice if you're going to Center Bell or not. The staff was friendly & quick to take our orders. They have a varried drink menu as well as their food menu. Delicious Italian food! If you like calamari, tartares, pasta, pizza, & parmesan fries, then go eat there. The portion size of the main dishes isn't big, but the quality is spot on! The fries were a large amount & mouth watering!
Visiting this restaurant when staying at the courtyard across the street. The decoration is amazing & very modern look. We were seated right away for a party of 8 with no reservation. We ordered calamari, pizza & seafood pasta. The food came fairly quickly & they were all so delicious! No concern w anything else, highly recommended!
Amazing experience! Amelie was SO sweet, she really made sure we were well taken care of. The food was delicious - we had the caesar salad & calamari to start & then we had the pesto pasta & lobster risotto. Will definitely be returning & have already strongly recommended to friends & family.
