Guests frequently praise the chef's tasting menu for its flawless pacing and depth of flavor, noting that the staff provides highly attentive, professional, and personalized service that makes everyone feel welcome. While the lively music and cozy setting contribute to a unique energy, some diners advise being prepared for a spirited environment, yet the overwhelming consensus is that the culinary quality and genuine hospitality make this a must-visit destination in Montreal.
I have now been here 5 times, one better than the next. We usually come on Sundays, city slowing down, sun already down & this place just brings us back to life. The restaurant manager, Dave, has been gracious to help us find times even on busy nights & Jordan + the entire wait staff is pure class. Absolutely pure class.
The food - is also great. I had a top 5 ranked restaurant in North America (in Montreal) the night prior to our most recent Garde Manger stop & without any doubt, I enjoyed GM more. Ambience, taste, service - all extraordinary. Yes, you should like shellfish if you come here'. I'd say no, it's not mandatory.
Overall - old port dinner, old port atmosphere, & Montreal / québécois service. Look absolutely no further.
I miss what this restaurant used to be. The food was mediocre at best & the steak dish had clearly been sitting for a while, served on the cooler side & the sauce had congealed on the plate. The service is also not what it used to be. & cocktails, while very good, were this side of $30 each - ridiculous. I don't mind a dinner for two coming in at $300+ but expectations come along with that price tag & this experience came no where near.
My fiancé & I had a culinary experience I will never forget. The service, attention to detail, & kindess from each & every employee was above & beyond anything I have ever witnessed. It was not meal, it was a perfectly curated culinary journey that took us & our tastebuds to places we have never been. Perfection!!!!
My fiancée & I went for a celebration dinner & this was one of our best culinary experiences ever. The chefs table menu is worth it. The care & attention the serving team offers is second to none. They work as a team & are beyond attentive. Our interaction with everyone was personable & extremely pleasant. The creative & artistic approach to the menu was nothing short of perfection. Chuck the Garde Manger was everything we hoped it would be & then some. Worth the 4 hour drive & we will be back.
Garde Manger is a must! My husband & I were fortunate to receive the recommendation to dine at Garde Manger from a chef friend of ours. We did the 5 course chef's menu & the food was plentiful & outstanding. We sat at the back bar with Felix at the helm, seated next to two other couples, all of whom were there also celebrating an anniversary, cheers! Nico managed music from the front of house & the whole experience was top notch. Will definitely be returning.
What an experience. Firstly a shout out to whomever hires the staff. We interacted with 4 different people & all were authentically friendly & very competent. Water was always full & napkins folded if we stepped away from the table. I tried folding my napkin before I got up & they recognized the rubbish job I did & refolded it. Jordon took care of us but there was a team working with him to ensure we had the best experience.
We had the 5 course chef menu & were impressed with the selection with each course. The seafood plate was amazing & included a half lobster. Each course had a sampling of 3 different dishes which were all excellent.
Jordan was happy to explain the dishes when we had questions & made sure we had the best experience. Highly recommend!
Truly incredible meal. We went for the $125 chef's tasting + snow crab toast & were not left wanting in any way. Very patient/communicative server with great wine pairing suggestions. Support staff were also lovely & really enjoyed the energy of the chefs in the open kitchen, who openly celebrated each time we bought them a round of drinks. Probably the freshest seafood I've had in my life? I'll definitely be thinking about this meal for a long time!
Extremely attentive service , welcome staff & amazing attention to details. the spicing & slicing & cooking was out of this world as an experienced world traveller eating in the best restaurant around the world this is way up there.
