Absolutely delicious & such a lovely atmosphere, you can tell how much the owners care for their costumers, service was excellent, ambiance amazing, but most of all, the food was soooo tasty. Will Definitely be back again soon.😋
What. A. Gem.
The kind of place you don't just visit once. You return to, again & again.
As if the food, atmosphere, & vibey music weren't already magnetic enough, learning that this space is a family dream brought to life makes it even more special. A true co-creation of vision & love between mother, father, son, & daughter. You can feel it the moment you walk in. That warmth, that intention, that pride. It's contagious. Tao, the mother, is a total powerhouse - grounded, gracious, gregarious & radiant.
The father is the alchemist in the kitchen, crafting layers of flavour you can taste in every bite.
The son manages & shakes things up behind the bar. & their darling daughter curated the aesthetic & handles the marketing with such care & beauty.
It's rare to witness a family working in such harmony, each person fully in their zone of genius. Total awe. Total respect. Exactly the kind of business worth investing in. Risking it all to bring their dream to life.
& the food? So delicious. Thoughtful, vibrant, & deeply satisfying. I love that the menu evolves from time to time, keeping things exciting, & gives yet another reason to keep coming back for more.
A place made with love. & you can taste it.
Endroit correcte, la nourriture était bonne, mais le service d'abord offert seulement en anglais m'a laissé un goût amer. Heureusement, c'est assez facile à corriger.

welcome to my second ever autistic restaurant review.
disclaimer: i dont have enough spoons or even functional brain cells to keep up with my own stuff, so when i arrive to type up some stuff to say Food Good im usually not fcking around.
This family-run restaurant & tapas bar might be the most beautiful resident of this particular location in the past ten years, or at least that's my opinion. The venue itself is unusually-shaped & large, & the previous restaurant tenants seemed like they werent sure if they wanted to make a hotel lobby or a brunch place, & all repeatedly closed due to weak visions for the menu, or just simply struggled to compete with the many other established local gems. One place prior had incredible moules frites with a cream & leek base (i know it's traditional but i cant remember the name) & they had excellent service, but the menu was as big as the floor & they kinda collapsed.
So when Fukuro put up signs announcing their'opening soon' my spouse & i got really hyped.'That's yakitori in the pic, bruhhh,' i told my husband as i was practically smushed against the glass. I pictured us sitting at the tables near the huge industrial side windows that turn the building into a terrace in the summer. The idea of springtime walks with the smell of crazy hot binchotan charcoal burning, a gaddang classic to join the aromas of the local curry place & the bakery? Dont threaten me with a good time.
Despite our unstoppable enthusiasm about opening, when Fukuro finally opened the doors i was sick as hell with crazy medical issues & i think it was almost a full year before we could get in there. But when we did i was simultaneously excited & relieved.
To quote an overworked Scotsman: Finally some good fucking food.
The menu was fairly compressed (always a good sign) & it's been compressed further since our first visit. The food is kept simple & seasonal, but seasoned exceptionally well, cooked with care & with great skill. It's been a long time since ive had takoyaki prepared like that. EXTRA crispy exterior but with a tender & moist (not wet) interior, & we suspect it was brought to the table a minute or two after theyve cooled down enough to still be nice & hot but not so hot that i burn myself to pieces (because i WILL put that takoyaki in my big dumb mouth as i clearly refuse to learn.) I hope they do grilled squid when it's in season... The pork is tender & charred with a great smoky flavor, & I was stoked to try the vegetarian (vegan?? i cant remember, i am neither) eggplant dish because I dont uhhh really like eggplant. But it was served two ways on the plate, katsu style & like stewed cubes, with big pieces of king oyster mushrooms & bok choy & man.
It was great!
The interior redo that they did is really beautiful. Leaning into the wooden beams & the unusual structure, there's a combination of LEDs, paper, ceramic & sculpture to both vary up the visuals but also greatly break up the sound. The acoustics are pleasant & warm & the vibe was both low-energy chill & pleasantly buzzy.
The hosts & staff are friendly & love to chat but never lose sight of their other guests, & was very exciting to see the place fill up so quickly. I was glad to see mocktails on the menu this time (i wont drink!! my heart cant take no more lol) & i hope to see more, & possibly even more teas. I dont know how business collaborations work but i know that our local Camellia Sinensis has a beautiful range of imported teas & their offices are actually only a few blocks from the restaurant.
rabble rabble rabble My medication has cooked my brain so welcome to the end of my rambling review. We still havent done music or event nights yet as we're both pretty introverted, but the venue is obviously perfect for it. We love the family & we love the food & we hope we can stop in more often.
TL;DR: food tasty, staff friendly & attentive, menu simple & evolving. hell yeah. drop in & see what's up.
We had a perfect night for our friend's 40th. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere--the whole package! Our waitress, Jessica, really made the evening next level. Incredibly professional, through & through--all while shooting the shit with us & contributing very memorable art to the birthday card. 😅
Thanks for the great night! It was everyone's first time, but we'll be back!
This restaurant was truly one of the best I've ever been to! The atmosphere was very pleasant & welcoming, & the decoration was well thought out. This family owned restaurant was not only charming, it also served delicious food!
Every single tapas was flavourful & truly worth the price. Each plate was executed to perfection.
The staff is very sweet & attentive to their customers. Overall, this experience was a 10/10. Will definitely come back for the food, the ambience, the music, & the amazing staff :)
First time reviewing a restaurant & I have to give credit where credit is due! Amazing! The food was well worth the price & it was so filling. The service was honestly not one I've ever experienced before, our waiter was so sweet & kind. I must say the decor really impressed me for a new restaurant/bar.
Overall, I'd really recommend for the vibes, the music & of course, the food!
This place is absolutely amazing. The service we got was a 10/10, this family owned restaurant is so welcoming & warm. They exude professionalism but also friendliness. We were sat at one of their newly furnished tables & got such an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious, my friends & I devoured everything! Their tapas menu has all kinds of foods that have their own speciality & flavour. Their hospitality is astounding, the place is beautifully decorated, the vibes are immaculate, & they have the cutest spots for amazing pictures. I highly recommend this restaurant, & I will definitely be back!

I'd give 6 stars if I could! The bar is family owned everyone is super nice & service is top notch. We didn't have food this time but all the drinks were well-made, taste delicious & super creative. I love the addition of many Asian countries inspired ingredients making this such an unique experience. Will be back for food next time hopefully Fridays for live jazz apparently :)
