Fu Chun Soupe Dumplings is widely praised for juicy, flavorful soup dumplings and authentic Shanghai noodles, with generous portions and very reasonable prices contributing to an overall impression of good value; the service is described as warm and attentive in a cozy, welcoming space, making it a beloved if occasionally busy spot. A few reviews note hiccups like slow service during peak times, attempts to push tipping, or occasional inconsistencies such as overly salty pork, bland vegetarian dumplings, or dumplings that break or lack broth, but these are few compared with the many glowing mentions of quality and homemade feeling. Overall, the restaurant is viewed as a true find in Montreal, a go-to for dumplings and noodles with frequent praise for the crab and pork or sweet pork xiao long bao, spicy noodles, and peanut sauce noodles.
As a food inspector, I focus on authenticity, consistency, & execution & Fuchun truly stands out.
The soup dumplings were exceptional, delicate wrappers, rich & flavorful broth, & perfectly seasoned fillings. Each basket came out fresh & steaming, showing great attention to timing & technique. The dumplings with sauce were just as impressive, well-balanced & packed with flavor.
Beyond dumplings, the dishes were executed with precision, the noodles were savory & satisfying, & the fried items had a perfect crisp without being greasy. Everything felt authentic & thoughtfully prepared.
The overall experience was clean, efficient, & consistent-exactly what you want to see from a well-run kitchen.
If you're looking for high-quality dumplings in Montreal, this spot is a must-visit. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Excellent excellent excellent. We were so pleased with the food & service. Super sweet staff & house made Shanghai dumplings(get the juicy pork & the peanut sauce noodles🤤 super affordable too!
We had an enjoyable dinner at this restaurant. The atmosphere was pretty cosy & the interior decors made the place nice & casual. The service was good. The waiter was friendly & professional but they weren't really welcoming. The food was quickly served, under 10 minutes, which was great. Although the flavours were simple, they were quite enjoyable. There was a great balance of saltiness & sweetness in the noodles & the xiao long baos & the vinegar sauce added great flavours as well. The appetisers were great by themselves as well & they also paired really well with the drinks. The portions were pretty good for the prices, around 10$ for 6 pieces of soup dumplings.
First time trying this spot because I saw they had vegetarian soup dumplings which is super rare to find anywhere. Arrived from Brossard & was unfortunately disappointed due to the bland taste & major lack of broth (bought veggie+mushroom & mushroom only). The filling inside was plentiful but tasteless. I find they were missing seasoning & salt. Instead of soy sauce & chili oil, I was given an apple cider/vinegar tasting sauce which did not go very well with the dumplings IMO. Fast service & kind staff though! The cucumber salad was nice (still prefer the one from Sammi Dumplings). Vegetarian dumplings sadly are a 5.5/10 & will not be coming back:(
Service was good. The waitress was warmth & the she was smilling. The chilli oil sauce was good. The dumplings were not good. No soup in the dumplings like suppose to not the best I had same for the cucumber salad
My brother & I were VERY disappointed given the reviews! I guess quality went down.
Hairy crab & pork soup dumplings: not much broth or crab, & the skin kept breaking...
Veggie & mushroom soup dumplings: these were NOT soup dumplings even though advertised as such
Chili & peanut sauce chicken: many reviewers spoke highly of this, but it was so oily with nothing to cut the grease, & barely spicy.
The soup dumplings didn't hit as compared to Qing hua or harbin. The sauces are no5 flavoured enough in my opinion, it tasted too healthy almost . Maybe I like my food to have more depth of flavours. It felt like a very homey meal, lacking that restaurant taste. The place is cute & the portions are big tho.

Passed by today for a late lunch. I tried the pork wonton soup & the Shanghai style soy sauce noodle. Both were incredible. Definitely coming back to try other things.
We went there for lunch today. Everything was delicious. Their soup dumplings are the best we have tried in the city so far. The chili sauce used for their braised chicken is truly addictive.
It's a little gem just beside the road, they offer Shanghai food, the sesame sauce noodles is tasty, & if you are vegetarian, they also do vegetarian xiao long bao (small Chinese steam buns) which I don't see in other restaurant. The price is reasonable. Good restaurant to chill with friends or family. There's no parking lot, but easy to go with public transportation with your feet ^^

I finally tried Fu chun Montreal for the first time. First things first: those who did mention that the taste, here, is more authentic Asian that Americanized Chinese (by Montreal Chinese restaurant standards) were right, & that is, of course, a great thing. That Fu chun was great at doing dumplings was not a surprise (indeed, they have some of the finest dumplings in Montreal, right now) as that is what they are known for, obviously, but what surprised me is that their non-dumpling food items are really well made for a Chinese restaurant in Montreal (for eg, Shanghai Style Soy Sauce Noodle, the Spring rolls , the Steamed chicken in Szechuan chili sauce, etc... were all better than what most of their competitors are pulling off, in Montreal, right now). Easily one of the better Chinese restaurants in Montreal (not just one of the best dumplings in town). & the service is good, too. The food is actually affordable (relatively to what you get & pay for in Montreal, these days). I am happily adding Fu chun to my go-to restaurants in Montreal. As long as Fu chun keeps their good standards, I'll keep going back with the same beautiful smile of happiness that was on my face when I finished this meal. Long live Fu chun!
Very cute homey restaurant with Shanghainese cuisine. Soup dumplings: we took the classic pork & the pork/shrimp. They were both very good. The only sauce that was provided was a type of vinegar with ginger & soy sauce on the table. Maybe it's the traditional Shanghai dipping sauce. It would have been nice to have chili or something, maybe I should've asked. Spicy steamed chicken with chili sauce: the best dish that I've tried there. The chicken was juicy & was drowned in a tahini oily sauce. It was delicous, but I would've appreciated it more if it was more spicy. Spicy cucumber: basically cucumber pieces with tahibi & maybe soy sauce? There were chili flakes visible but it was not spicy at all. It was good, but I expected more for spiciness. Shanghai style noodles: looked delicous, it was perfectly cooked noodles that tasted like nothing. It is soy sauce based & we chose to not add the tahini sauce. It was extremely bland. We had to add more soy sauce. Spicy fried pork noodles: the pork did not look like the one on the picture, it was definitely not spicy & although it looked fancier than the shanghai noodles, it tasted exactly the same, which is absolutely nothing. The noodle dishes were very disappointing. The spice level here is zero because all the spicy dish did not taste spicy at all. The only thing worth it here are the dumplings, very good & for a good price as well. The sauce provided grew on us after we added soy sauce
Les xiao long bao sont trop délicieux 🤤! Je préfère ceux aux boeufs & oignons! Le poulet dans sauce chili a un goût pas tant épicé & unique. À essayer!
I ordered SPICY pork noodles & I expected the chili from the seasoning but all I got was the soy sauce pork like they forgot to put chili in it, I should have order the crispy pork instead. The xiao long bao were delicious & juicy!
This restaurant got high praise but the food had no taste the portions are small for the cost waitress forgot our order going back to Sammie soupe & dumplings is that crazy better taste service the same but the food has flavor & we can portion our sauces on our own. The 70$ spent hurt we took our shanghai noodles home & seasoned them ourselves . This was just my experience
