Tried this new spot today with my friend Sarah, & let me just say… this place is noodles first, no shortcuts.

Most things here are made from scratch-bouncy egg noodles, rich broths, & garlic oil that coats everything in this deep, cozy aroma. You can tell they really care about the details.

Here's what we tried:

🍜 Jakarta Noodles
Homemade egg noodles tossed in garlic oil (so fragrant!), with sweet soy-braised chicken, mushrooms, & yu choi. It comes with a light chicken soup on the side that you can pour over. This one was the most comforting of the bunch-& the chicken was super tender without being too fatty. Loved the little heat from the sambal too.

🥩 Taipei Beef Noodles
This one had great flavor & texture-especially the spiced beef bone broth that comes on the side, plus crispy garlic & coriander. But heads up: the beef was a bit fattier than I personally like. If you don't mind that, you'll probably love it!

🍛 Coco Curry (my favorite)
This bowl had everything: tofu, pork belly, fish balls, shrimp, chicken, & more-all swimming in a creamy coconut curry broth. It was spicy, savory, & super rich in flavor. A total standout for me.

I also appreciated that all the broths come on the side so you can mix it in at your own pace. Everything felt fresh & really fun to eat.

Foxy Tip: Don't skip the sambal & chili oil. A little goes a long way, & it makes each bite pop.

This meal was comped as part of a media tasting - sharing my honest thoughts above. 🫶🏽Voir plus

Alright, let's go over the good, the bad, & the in between in as much detail as I can provide. I went there with 2 friends, & we got the Coco Curry & the Taipei Beef Noodles

First, the in between:

The place is small, with only 3 or 4 seats at a small table in front of the window. It was clearly not intended to be a sit-down restaurant, but more of a take-out place. That's not a bad thing, but it is important to know that before you go there.

The menu is quite small with 6 items total. Half of those are dry noodles meaning there is no broth base, & the other half have a broth base (I will refer to these as'wet noodles' from now on). Again this is not a bad thing, with less variety, it often means the dishes they do make are better than normal since they specialize in them.

Now the bad:

Reactions to the food were mixed, but overall very positive. & if the overall impression is positive despite this being the'bad' section, that should tell you something. The main complaint I heard from friends was that the noodles didn't quite fit the broth. While I personally disagree with them, I felt it was important to include their thoughts. They said it'was still good noodles, I just don't think it complimented the broth.'

The only other complaint I heard was'It seems expensive' which they said before we ate the food, & got a good look at portion size & such. In total, with tax & tip, it comes out to around $30 for a bowl of noodles, though I will note we did buy the more expensive options from the menu, & will further state that all of the wet noodles are at this price point. 2 of the dry noodle options would be around $25 instead.

Now the good:

It was filling, & I feel this is especially important to note after talking about price. I generally can eat a lot, & I finished my dish feeling I did not need to eat more, but also not like I was bloated. Perfect portion size for me. Personally, I think that the $30 price point was good for the amount of food I got, the quality of that food, & the sense of fullness it gave me.

The broth was delicious. I tried the Taipei broth, it was very tasty, & my friend who ordered it is convinced they chose the better bowl, & I disagree with them. I think the Taipei bowl had broth more akin to typical ramen, & it was done very well. The Coco Curry, Which I ordered, was also delicious, but is definitely not your typical ramen broth, from my experience. The soft coconut flavor is complimented by a slight spice that gives the broth a great overall flavor, very much akin to an actual curry. I could see myself getting either of the two bowls again in the future. I cannot stress this enough, the broth was the best part of the dish for me & my friends.

I give 4 stars only to account for my friends opinions that the noodles did not compliment the broth. I will be going back some time in the future & will try one of the dry noodle options to see how I feel about the noodles without the delicious broth.Voir plus
