Review Summary

Fondue Chinoise Express is described as a no frills, hole in the wall spot where the focus is on the food rather than ambience, offering a broad range of authentic Chinese dishes with generous portions at affordable prices. The best dan dan noodles in town and a spice pork dish are frequently praised, along with hearty noodle soups and a broth that is often described as rich and comforting. Chili oil, garlic and coriander are common toppings that elevate the dishes. Service is straightforward and quick, making it a good choice after a long day. Occasional random closures are noted, but most reviews emphasize the consistently fresh flavors and strong value that keep people returning.

Incomprehensible signage, great noodles. This place, tucked away in the faubourg building, is one of the best kept secrets of the city. The place is covered in menus & signage in Chinese, French & English, telling you the various items on offer, (soups, noodles, stir fry, didn't see hot pot/fondue chinoise on there but hey) & the various instructions on how to navigate the ordering process. Order here, don't step here, after mandarin, try French, bring back your bowl & get your $2 deposit back, & also some political messages? One sign says, in French English & Chinese, something to the effect of "nuclear waste dumped into the ocean is a crime against humanity." Yeah, it does sound bad, but I'm not conversant enough in Chinese politics to understand what this means. Some of the more political signs are in Mandarin & are... perhaps more direct in their intent. In any case, this 2 person operation is serving up the best Dan Dan noodles I've had, so an esoteric ordering process & propaganda don't mean much. 10/10.
