What are the main cuisines at Fondue Chinoise Express?
Fondue Chinoise Express is widely regarded as a hidden gem offering generous portions of authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine at very affordable prices. Many diners highlight the excellent value for money and the deep, satisfying flavors of dishes like the spice pork and noodle soups. While the ordering process and no-frills, canteen-style atmosphere can be intimidating for some, many patrons find this unique environment part of the restaurant's authentic charm. It remains a popular destination for those who prioritize high-quality, hearty meals and a traditional dining experience.
As returning customers who have eaten here many times, this visit was deeply disappointing & uncomfortable. Right after we paid for our order, the owner suddenly threw an unprovoked fit & started making dynamic, offensive comments on our looking simply because we were wearing sunglasses. He went on to criticize us using very harsh & disrespectful language for several minutes.
Because we had already completed the transaction, we chose not to escalate the situation, but the owner's behavior & attitude were completely unacceptable & borderline aggressive. You go to a restaurant to enjoy a meal, not to be lectured or insulted.
This is hands down the worst service experience I have ever had at any restaurant in Canada. I strongly advise everyone to stay away!
Portion : généreuse (tu en as pr ton argent)
I'd like to share my terrible experience at this restaurant so that others can avoid going through the same thing.
After placing my order, I went upstairs to the supermarket to buy a bottle of water while waiting for my food. When I came back downstairs to pick it up, a man from the kitchen-who I believe may have been the owner-immediately confronted me in an extremely aggressive & hostile manner.
He said,'Do you know how long we've been looking for you? Why did you leave without telling us?' His tone was loud, rude, & intimidating.
I was completely shocked. I honestly didn't know what to say because I didn't understand what I had done wrong. I had simply gone upstairs to buy a bottle of water while waiting for my order. I had no idea that I was expected to tell the staff before stepping away for a few minutes.
What upset me the most was not the misunderstanding itself, but the way I was treated. Instead of calmly explaining the situation, he kept shouting at me, saying,'Say something! Talk!' His attitude was extremely aggressive & disrespectful. As a woman standing there alone, I felt intimidated & humiliated.
To make matters worse, I hadn't eaten anything all morning because I had just been to the hospital for blood tests & other medical examinations. I was already feeling weak, dizzy, & exhausted, so I simply didn't have the energy to argue.
If someone had politely explained the situation, I would have gladly apologized if I had unknowingly done something wrong. Instead, the staff refused to hand me the food that I had already paid for & appeared to insist that I admit I was at fault before they would give me my order. At first, I genuinely didn't even understand what I was supposed to apologize for.
I've never experienced anything like this before. No customer deserves to be shouted at, intimidated, or made to feel threatened over such a minor misunderstanding.
I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience. Everyone deserves to be treated with basic respect & courtesy.
The 5 spice pork with potatoes haunts me in my dreams, I need that recipe. Huge portions, delicious food, very good price. Intimidating ordering experience, but it's part of the charm, & extremely worth it. What a gem!
Hidden gem for noodle soup spot.
I ordered 5 spices pork noodle soup. The portion is bigger than I expected & it's very tasty. Definitely comingback to try other menus
Really weird experience. Food was bland with small pieces of meat & a load of noodles. Service was rude as soon as I start ordering. They were nice to chinese customers but others.. a total different scenario.
