Review Summary

Fleurs & Cadeaux is widely celebrated as an exceptional Japanese izakaya-style destination in Montreal, praised for its authentic atmosphere, expert sake selection, and high-quality, fresh ingredients. Guests frequently highlight the miso-aged duck, sashimi platters, and tantan udon as standout dishes, often recommending the tasting menu for a curated experience. While the decor and vintage vinyl soundtrack create an intimate, romantic, and lively environment, some diners find the space compact and the pricing reflective of premium portions. Although the majority of visitors encounter warm, knowledgeable, and professional service, experiences regarding pace, seating comfort, and staff demeanor can occasionally vary. Overall, it remains a highly recommended spot for those seeking elevated Japanese fusion and a unique, memorable dining experience.

The food was delicious, we ordered a bunch of plates & I enjoyed them all. However the service was not great. Our waitress seemed annoyed & kept making passive aggressive comments the whole night. At the end of the night, the person who was in charge of closing up that night was also extremely rude to us.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a really long time & I was just so disappointed on how unwelcoming the staff was. It's a shame.

My wife & I shared the following dishes:
Tsukemono (various pickled veggies) 8/10
Chirashi Sushi (assorted sashimi) 8/10
Miso Duck 9/10
Nanban (fried chicken) 9/10
The place & ambiance are nice, & service was good & efficient, but it simply takes too long between dishes, so you just kind of end up waiting for what's next. Tasty food but too much $ & time spent for what you get.

Tucked in an intimate space in Chinatown with a Speakeasy sensibility, Fleurs & Cadeaux was delicious from start to finish. The server curated a perfect tasting menu, along with some very good sakis. Among the highlights: artfully presented sashimi, agadashu tofu, well-cooked meat & a pork noodle dish that bordered on ecstatic. I reserved a week in advance & would've preferred a table rather than a somewhat uncomfortable backless bar seat, but the bar does offer a cinematic view of the chefs in action. I will definitely be back!
