We used to love this place & have been going for almost 30 years. The food has gotten overpriced & the quality & taste is not what it used to be. The young people they have doing the service need to work on their customer service skills. We got take out last night & it wasn't very good, 60$ for two combos.
I walked in with a party of three & the environment seemed nice at first, but we were completely ignored for about 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order-no water, no check-in, nothing. Other tables that arrived after us were served right away.
When the food finally came (sweet & sour pork chop, pineapple chicken, chow mein, beef fried rice, & spring rolls), most of it was okay the spring rolls are the best. but the chow mein was both raw & burnt at the same time. We sent it back, but even the replacement wasn't much better. Service stayed poor throughout the meal-we were basically ignored the whole time.
It is very important that everybody reads & shares this. You will all be doing me a huge favour for not visiting this restaurant anymore. Please read & share where you can. My daughter's friend wrote this in response to what happened just over a week ago at the restaurant Fay Wong in Cote Saint Luc.
'Hey everyone, I'd like to shed light on a situation that has happened at my previous workplace. Last Sunday, my co worker & I (both young girls) were working at Fay Wong (Cote St Luc, NDG). Whenever our boss doesn't understand what's going on at work, he takes it out on us & yells infront of customers. He ended up not liking what we were doing in regards to answering the phones, so in an attempt to grab the phone from my other co worker, he instead slapped her hard on the arm. Myself & the other girl walked out of the restaurant, to let him deal with his own chaos that he's caused. Due to this, the police were called & im not able to post photos of him but if you go on Fay Wong under reviews, you will see as described, a 70 year old man physically assaulting his young female worker who has really been doing her best. A police report has additionally been filed in which the owner (the boss' son) has not released the video footage of him hitting my co worker because this place has been an unsafe environment for females & anyone working there, but none of them who own the place nor work there do anything to protect their workers. The boss came back into work the next day, & nothing was said about this & they all expect to get away with it.
Due to this, I was unfairly fired from my job there as I walked out in solidarity with my friend, & the boss was mad because it'got busy' afterwards. I wasn't going back anyway due to the abuse that had happened, as the boss is a cruel human being.
Just a heads up to avoid fay Wong, avoid working there, & that this so called'family restaurant' is full of verbal & physical abuse in which they continue to let it happen.'
A staple in NDG for over 20 years, comfort food at it's best. We always get the same dishes & it always hits the spot : Cantonese Chow Mein, Beef Canadian Broccoli, Shrimp Lobster Sauce, Wonton Soup, General Tao, Honey glazed
or Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings ( I can never decide which one is better).
