Farine et Cacao is a Montreal artisanal pâtisserie and chocolaterie known for its elegant French-inspired pastries, refined desserts, viennoiseries, and handcrafted chocolates. Located on Ontario Street East, it combines creativity, precision, and high-quality ingredients in a polished boutique setting.
Farine & Cacao is widely praised for beautifully crafted in-house pastries, viennoiseries, chocolates, and desserts, with croissants (notably gianduja and pistachio-framboise) and the yuzu tart repeatedly highlighted as standouts and the shop earning international recognition as an award-winning pastry destination. The presentation is often described as artistic and refined, with inventive flavor pairings and a calm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it a popular stop for couples, families, or solo visitors, while a few reviews caution that some items are pricey and a few desserts can feel overly sweet or underwhelming. Service is frequently noted as friendly and attentive, and some comments mention sustainability-minded practices and the chefs' expertise, though taste experiences vary. Overall, Farine & Cacao is considered a top choice for haute pastries in Montreal, offering a memorable yet premium pastry experience for true enthusiasts.
I found this place while I was walking in the area & I wanted to give a try. Everything on the display looks sooo delicious. I tried the small Lemon pie/ Yuzu & I didn't regret my choice because I knew that it was going to be my place to order for my mom b-day' cake'. The pie was so delicious & not too sweet. There's not too much Yuzu dessert in Montréal. I will be back for sure for my next orde

One of the best Paris-Brest I have ever had, loved the pistache & framboise dessert too. I will definitely be back & try their delicious looking croissants. I also tried their almond croissant & I was delightful not too sweet & very creamy. Great service & pleasant to talk to the staff. Definitely recommend this place & it's worth the price.
The pistachio & Framboise pastry was actually quite good, especially the raspberry ganache having a nice tartness. But for that price & their reputation I was expecting something much better, other patisseries within Montreal are better.
The rest of the flavours are quite sweet, & although the outside of the pastry presents well, the inside is lacking the usual French cake complexity & unique flavours.
On a side note the chocolate pieces on top are clearly very high quality & was a highlight.
« J'ai acheté une boîte dégustation & mon palais a littéralement explosé devant des combinaisons de saveurs que je n'avais jamais goûtées. Dessert parfaitement équilibré, 100 % sans sucre, avec un goût unique & mémorable.
Je recommande fortement. Merci pour cette expérience exceptionnelle.
The chocolate & nut flavoured cakes are pretty good but the fruit ones are not. The texture of the fruit one I got was unpleasantly gummy. There are other patisseries & chocolatiers in Montreal that are much better & available at a lower price. The store also has a strange musty smell.

I've seen the review about Farine & Cacao saying the desserts were not bad, & I agree to some extent. I tried a praline dessert that was actually quite good.
However, I found the croissants very ordinary & didn't enjoy them. We ordered a galette des rois, which was appreciated taste-wise, but it was very, very small for the price, in my opinion. It was decent overall, so I feel a bit mixed, but I would still give Farine & Cacao another chance.
The strawberry & pistachio filled croissants were disappointing; I didn't find the flavors very tasty. The hot chocolate was really not good.
