I can't believe I'm saying this but this cafe is modelled after the book 1984 - it appears the owners watch you on the security camera & if they notice you with a laptop, they will ask you to remove it. This is super creepy, & I'm confused how these business people have the time & energy to people-watch so that they can apparently control the flow of customers as if it's McDonald's.
The crazy thing is, they ultimately end up losing a lot of money in the long run by alienating their customer base, especially the regulars who account for consistent monthly cash flow. If you just do some napkin math & you have 20 regulars spending $10, 10x per month - that's $2k/month is just thrown out.
Really baffling, as this was once a cool cafe but has become uncomfortable. Oh well, there's many excellent cafes around here to switch to. I just never thought I would have to be worried about surveillance spying from a cafe lol.
Cute cafe with good coffee & amaretti, however there was a member of the staff that was sitting in the cafe, who was very loud & obnoxious. It really spoiled the atmosphere , which would have been otherwise very pleasant... she needs to learn about indoor voice & not yelling across a cafe to other employees.
Four'o'clock. Bill Evan's. 🎹Latte. One on many fine moments in this musically aware café. 🙏
Prices are reasonable when you compare within Mile-End. Cappuccino (the empty cup in the second picture) was fine however we didn't like the concept of Affogato (ice cream & cafe were separated). There're some problems with quality of patisserie products, we didn't try the matcha, but it was quite popular in there. Have a nice day ✌?
Superbe endroit pour prendre une pause café, j'ai essayé leur latte pistache qui était très bien! Il y a aussi des à côté fait sur place chaque jour. Les grains proviennent du torréfacteur Barista.
Good coffee, good vibes & the place is nice.
My one gripe: they charge $1 extra for oat milk. I just wish that, in 2025, this cafe (& many others) would stop charging extra for plant-based milks.
FAME Café is a hidden gem-had a delicious cortado while vibing to great music on an impressive sound system. It's like a mini listening bar tucked inside a cozy café. Warm vibes, quality sound, & top-notch coffee make it a must-visit spot.
Lieu superbe & convivial ! On est accueilli avec le sourire, & on s'y sent bien. Le quartier est très chouette, & la carte est vraiment bonne d'après ce que j'ai pu tester.
Un des meilleurs cafés de Montréal !
Service was excellent. My latte was made exceptionally well & the atmosphere was very comforting. A delightful cafe!
We visited at 4pm on a Sunday. There was one barista, & a DJ. The DJ behind the counter was useless. The barista was doing it all, taking orders & payments, table service, making drinks, heating food, etc. We were third & fourth in line after another couple & it took us over 20 minutes to get our drinks (to go), & only after receiving our drinks did he put our food in the oven to warm up. There were dirty cups & garbage on the bar, & no clean spoons for stirring drinks. The barista was obviously overworked & in the middle of a rush with no help. Glad there was a DJ though. My advice is try to focus on running a functioning cafe before trying to over-curate your pretentious vibes with a vinyl DJ on a Sunday afternoon. This is what the mile end has come to I guess.
