About

État de Choc specializes in the precise craft of bean-to-bar chocolate production, emphasizing the distinct terroir of various cacao origins. The facility functions as both a laboratory and a boutique, where raw cacao beans undergo meticulous roasting, winnowing, and stone grinding. The resulting bars and confections highlight the natural complexity of the cacao fruit, often incorporating unconventional infusions and technical precision. Patrons encounter a wide array of single-origin chocolates that prioritize purity and flavor clarity over processed additives. The space showcases the industrial elegance of cocoa processing equipment alongside finished products ready for retail. Every item manufactured here adheres to rigorous standards of chocolate making that respect the biological integrity of the bean. This focused approach ensures that each offering provides a transparent connection between the agricultural source and the final consumer experience.

Lovely lovely spot.

I love the selection of flavours & quality of chocolate here. The banane chocolate was unique (although I did not like it, my family raved about it). Other wacky flavours include durian & soymilk.

The staff are super friendly & willing to help. I was honestly so impressed with their customer service.

The prices here are definitely on the premium side, so definitely a good spot for gift hunting. I spent a solid $400 during my one visit (worth it & will be back!).

highly recommend.
I just finished their Advent Calendar & I have to say it was spectacular (in terms of flavours, value, & it shipped well). Bonus: each day had 2 pieces of chocolate or enough hazelnut/pistachio butter for 2 servings, which made it easily shareable.
I liked their Advent Calendar much better than Soma Chocolatemaker's (which is what I had last year).

The premium chocolates here are so good! This was our last stop when we did a food tour in Montreal. We had some chocolate sampling with the owner, Maud. She was very knowledgeable & explained the bean-to-bar process. The variety of chocolates were so delicious & I like that they have sugar-free milk chocolates, perfect for diabetics. Thank you, Maud, for taking the time to go over the different flavours with us.
