Overall, Escondite is described as a bold, fresh Mexican spot with vibrant flavors, standout guacamole and chips, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere that many guests remember after leaving; the menu is praised for variety and quality, with favorites like birria Koreano and a range of tacos, and the Escondite experience is commonly recommended for first visits to sample several tapas alongside strong cocktails. Service is a mixed bag, with some visits featuring attentive staff and quick, smooth service while others report slow pacing and orders being mixed up or missed, which dampen the meal; noise levels can be high and some guests feel portions are small for the price, yet the food is repeatedly described as delicious and inventive, and the overall vibe and consistency encourage return visits.
Spent our 22nd anniversary dining here this past weekend. Our server was super sweet & helpful. Gave us options, answered our questions & made recommendations. The drinks were great! Corn bread was almost a no-go due to a broken machine, but was replaced just in time for us to enjoy! I asked for another, it was on the house! 3 different types of tacos (fish, steak & chicken) all excellent & written in order of preference. Chips & guac were tasty as well. Wee are believers that great food tastes better when the service is exceptional, & she didn't disappoint. We will be back for sure!!
Mon experience a ete super bien les serveuse son tres professionel se que jai pas aimer ses le proprietaire qui crit sur les serveuse & les met a pleurer devant les client aucun respect envers ses emploiye laché pas le staff vous faite une belle job bravo (Olivia)
The food is amazing as always, first time at this location though. Love the atmosphere & overall vibe as well. Staff though are either too inexperienced or just overwhelmed as it was really bad. Perhaps it was the night I don't know, they tried but just couldn't get it. Sorry
The food was tasty but nothing to call home about. Portions are good but the tacos had just a bit of garnish ( 4-5 onion little cubes & a couple of pieces of coriander).
We were charged for the salsa!!! No other mexican restaurant has ever charged for!!
The Margaritas ate great!
There was no coffee & even though it was not full the service was slow.
Not a place I'll go back to nor recommend.

Finally we have a good restaurant with a good taste atmosphere & delicious Mexican cuisine in the West Island, that we can enjoy with friends & family. Besides the food, the staff is friendly & welcoming.
Margaritas is a must with appetizers & to end the dinner, a Key lime delicacy for dessert.
Tacos are the perfect size & the texture of the tortilla almost to perfection.
I don't know how much I spend per person because we were invited by our friends.
The food is amazing, the service is great but unfortunately there is no value, way way too expensive, every order is so tiny, 2 bite size tacos for 15$ to eat properly you need to spend like 200$ which in this economy is not realistic unless you have lots of disposable income. Which they had an option in their menu with side servings of tacos with rice & refried beans to offer value to families would make them way more busy because it is really good!
The vibe was inviting - casual, eclectic & welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised. We were having a family dinner for 6 & selected the tasting menu, our waitress Katherine put together a selection of order & each dish came out for us to discover. My faves were the chicken wings, the enchiladas with truffle & the corn bread. The place filled up by 7:30 & the lights were dimmed to reflect the evening vibe. The wait staff explained each dish. We had a wonderful family dinner. I would definitely come back with friends as well.
The atmosphere, service & food are superb. Where it falls short is on portion size to price ratio. If they charged 2-3$ but got 3 tacos per plate instead of two, it would probably make a difference. Kids portion is not sufficient beyond 8 years old. It is the best Mexican restaurant in the area but value needs to be addressed.
From greeting to finishing up, the service was amicable & wonderful. The people seem just as happy as the party celebrating! The timing of each serving was perfect! The food was delicious. The only thing I & a friend of mine didn't like was the fish taco but EVERYTHING else was great!! The drinks ohhh wow fantastic everyone seemed enjoy them! Will definitely be back!

The food was mediocre, & unfortunately, the service was not the greatest - it felt dry & came with a bit of an attitude. The busser, however, was excellent, & that's the reason I gave three stars. I wish our entire experience had been with her. I also found it odd that the washrooms are located before the seating area. I've had a much better experience at the Wellington location, so I'll be sticking to that one.
We had a very nice evening. Their cocktails are delicious - fresh lime juice makes all the difference. The service from Olivia was exceptional. We will definitely return.
We didn't know anything about this restaurant going in & decided to choose the'escondite experience'. This really allowed us to have a great time without worrying about how to properly order. I strongly recommend this option for a first visit.
Everything we received was very flavorful & always an interesting take on a classic or a perfectly executed classic.
