Review Summary

Escondite delivers a bright, vibrant vibe with fresh, bold flavors across a wide range of Mexican tapas and standout cocktails. Margaritas and other drinks are frequently highlighted, and the guac, trio of salsas, and chips are often noted as must orders. The menu features inventive tacos, including fish, steak, chicken, and birria Koreano, along with ribs and other shareable plates. Portions tend to be tapas-sized, which works for tasting multiple items but can leave some guests wanting more, and a few reviews mention that value can feel off for the size. Service is typically friendly and attentive, with many praising helpful recommendations, though a few visits report slower pacing or crowded noise levels. The West Island location is repeatedly praised for its atmosphere and consistency, while some diners point out occasional issues such as mis-timed servings or ingredient omissions. Overall, the restaurant emerges as a popular, lively spot to enjoy creative Mexican fare with great drinks and a welcoming vibe, best experienced with friends and a spread of tapas rather than a single large plate.

Fresh, tasty & delicious! Tried it again & have same rating one year apart!

Spent our 22nd anniversary dining here this past weekend. Our server was super sweet & helpful. Gave us options, answered our questions & made recommendations. The drinks were great! Corn bread was almost a no-go due to a broken machine, but was replaced just in time for us to enjoy! I asked for another, it was on the house! 3 different types of tacos (fish, steak & chicken) all excellent & written in order of preference. Chips & guac were tasty as well. Wee are believers that great food tastes better when the service is exceptional, & she didn't disappoint. We will be back for sure!!

The food was tasty but nothing to call home about. Portions are good but the tacos had just a bit of garnish ( 4-5 onion little cubes & a couple of pieces of coriander).
We were charged for the salsa!!! No other mexican restaurant has ever charged for!!
The Margaritas ate great!
There was no coffee & even though it was not full the service was slow.
Not a place I'll go back to nor recommend.

As mentioned before, portions are on the small side, but it is more of a tapas-type restaurant. The flavours were amazing, my mojito was tasty & they did not skimp on the alcohol like many places nd the staff were wonderful. Will definitely be back!

The tasting menu was well worth it! Many appetizers followed by 2 tacos each & then dessert. Very tasty 😋

Food is tasty but the portion are really really smalll & expensive. Left there hungry. Service is fine. But felt pushed to order more. West Island location needs a redo, the decor is & atmosphere is just okay, not very inviting.

I often went to Escondite in downtown Montreal, & was super stocked they opened one in the west-island. It took me a few years before I got to try it out. I loved that the restaurant atmosphere is very similar to those in Montréal, but with some unique touches. It's the same food & the food.was pretty good. We had the a Mango salad which was good, but the mango wasn't as juicy & the salad wasn't as spicy as I had remembered, so I was a little bit disappointed, but it was still very good. We had some General Chappo chicken, very spicy & tasty. Also took the tuna tordata I think it was called, that was my favorite, very fresh & tasty. Then we had some El Pastor, Coliflower & Fish tacos. Again, from memory I felt they were better / fresher at the Montreal locations. Everything was still good, but I didn't taste the pineapple in the El Pastor & the Porc was a bit dried. Coliflower was good & also the fish Taco, but the frying of the fish made it heavy. Still all enjoyable, but we were quite full afterwards! We still took one of each desserts (churro & lime dessert). Churros were fresh & warm, the lime dessert was served in a bowl. Both were good. Nothing special to say about the service, it was good but I can't say it was amazing lol It was what I'd expect.

Overall, still a good place to go, we will be back for sure.
