Escondite delivers a vibrant exploration of Mexican street food culture characterized by bold spice profiles and authentic preparation methods. The menu centers on artisanal tacos featuring diverse fillings such as slow-cooked carnitas, seasoned grilled meats, and fresh vegetable medleys topped with house-made salsas. Beyond the taco selection, the kitchen prepares various Latin American staples including flavorful quesadillas and shareable appetizers designed for communal consumption. Each dish prioritizes high-quality ingredients to maintain traditional flavor integrity across the entire culinary lineup. The interior environment fosters a high-energy atmosphere through industrial-inspired decor and colorful mural accents that highlight the brand identity. Patrons engage with a menu that emphasizes complex textures and intense aromatics, ensuring a consistent representation of modern casual Mexican cuisine within a distinctive, urban-influenced setting that defines this specific culinary concept.
Escondite is widely celebrated for its flavorful and creative Mexican fusion cuisine, with many diners highlighting the tasting menu as an excellent way to sample a variety of fresh, high-quality dishes. While the vibrant, cozy atmosphere and handcrafted cocktails frequently contribute to a memorable dining experience, opinions regarding service and noise levels vary significantly among guests. Many appreciate the attentive and friendly staff who enhance the welcoming vibe, though some visitors have noted inconsistencies in service speed or pricing concerns related to portion sizes. Despite occasional mixed feedback, the restaurant remains a popular choice for groups and families seeking a unique culinary experience in the West Island.

I left. When you ask about the Pork ribs & the answer is 4 pieces & no side for 26$. Sorry Baton Rouge comes better with the same price point. The drinks are way overpriced. For a glass full of ice that cost 40$ for 2 margaritas which I did buy. Went to birdhouse instead got a pitcher of sangria for 35$ & buttermilk chicken with sides for 23$. Not worth the money they asking for.
The food is great & the atmosphere is nice. I thought the music was a bit loud, & there were a lot of us in the restaurant, so we had to talk very loudly, but that's just my personal preference. The service, unfortunately, was very disappointing. Our food came out pretty slowly. It took quite a while to get our drinks (after the first course), & the waitresses got our orders mixed up. I'm not sure if it was just a bad night, but...
Hopefully they'll improve their service next time.
The food was wonderful but the service was so bad it was almost impossible to enjoy it. The server forgot about our table completely multiple times as well as forgetting multiple items we ordered. She brought us incorrect items & acted annoyed when we asked for what we ordered. We had to keep flagging her down so we could order our drinks, food, etc, etc. We were told we had a limit of 2 hours at our table. That was no problem, but it took almost 45 minutes just to get our drinks (two bottled beers). The table next to us arrived 15 minutes after us & got their drinks & food before us. The whole meal went this way. The manager was in the back of the restaurant the entire time, despite his servers clearly needing help. The restaurant wasn't busy, but the servers were not prepared/well trained at all. We were stressed the entire time because of the time limit & the fact that everything took forever. It felt more like I was at work, instead of having a relaxed night out. Even though the food was good, we won't be returning. Eating out is expensive & not worth it when the server ignores you or acts like you are putting them out by being there.
Escondite has become one of my all time favourite restaurants. I've tried almost every location & I have to say the West Island is the best! The service is always 10/10 like a few days ago I came to eat dinner with my friends & were served by Olivia, she was quick, attentive & frequently checked on us to make sure we had whatever we needed. Also not to mention a total sweetheart! It makes me sad that they're not as busy as they should be because the food & drinks are incredible! Come eat here & get a Margarita Medianoche, share a guac then grab the Esteak Koreano tacos, I promise you won't regret it!!
Honestly, given that we were the only group in the restaurant (it was a storm day so there was really no other customers there), the service was slow & they missed some of our orders - I also find the drinks Extremely expensive
