Escondite delivers a vibrant exploration of Mexican street food culture characterized by bold spice profiles and authentic preparation methods. The menu centers on artisanal tacos featuring diverse fillings such as slow-cooked carnitas, seasoned grilled meats, and fresh vegetable medleys topped with house-made salsas. Beyond the taco selection, the kitchen prepares various Latin American staples including flavorful quesadillas and shareable appetizers designed for communal consumption. Each dish prioritizes high-quality ingredients to maintain traditional flavor integrity across the entire culinary lineup. The interior environment fosters a high-energy atmosphere through industrial-inspired decor and colorful mural accents that highlight the brand identity. Patrons engage with a menu that emphasizes complex textures and intense aromatics, ensuring a consistent representation of modern casual Mexican cuisine within a distinctive, urban-influenced setting that defines this specific culinary concept.
Escondite is widely celebrated for its flavorful and authentic Mexican fusion cuisine, with many guests praising the fresh ingredients and high quality of dishes like the birria tacos and signature margaritas. While the atmosphere is frequently described as vibrant, energetic, and perfect for celebrations, some patrons find the music levels too loud for easy conversation. Opinions on service are polarized, ranging from outstanding and attentive to occasionally slow or disorganized depending on the staffing levels. Although most diners consider it a top-tier destination for a fun night out, some feedback suggests that portion sizes can feel small relative to the price point, and the value of certain set menu experiences has been a subject of debate among frequent visitors.
Great experience, food was delicious from the chicken wings to the birras tacos, the cod taco was delicious, waiter explained menu & services was excellent, also the drinks, delicious
I left. When you ask about the Pork ribs & the answer is 4 pieces & no side for 26$. Sorry Baton Rouge comes better with the same price point. The drinks are way overpriced. For a glass full of ice that cost 40$ for 2 margaritas which I did buy. Went to birdhouse instead got a pitcher of sangria for 35$ & buttermilk chicken with sides for 23$. Not worth the money they asking for.
3rd Escondite location that I visit & the food & service were excellent. You should consider getting a reservation to come on weekends or busier nights. We were part of a group reservation & had a tasting menu that included Mango salad, corn bread, chicken General Chapo style, quesadillas, chicken & fish Tacos & churros for dessert. All were delicious. Our server, Olivia, was very attentive & helpful, just a pleasure to deal with.

Spent our 22nd anniversary dining here this past weekend. Our server was super sweet & helpful. Gave us options, answered our questions & made recommendations. The drinks were great! Corn bread was almost a no-go due to a broken machine, but was replaced just in time for us to enjoy! I asked for another, it was on the house! 3 different types of tacos (fish, steak & chicken) all excellent & written in order of preference. Chips & guac were tasty as well. Wee are believers that great food tastes better when the service is exceptional, & she didn't disappoint. We will be back for sure!!
The vibe was inviting - casual, eclectic & welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised. We were having a family dinner for 6 & selected the tasting menu, our waitress Katherine put together a selection of order & each dish came out for us to discover. My faves were the chicken wings, the enchiladas with truffle & the corn bread. The place filled up by 7:30 & the lights were dimmed to reflect the evening vibe. The wait staff explained each dish. We had a wonderful family dinner. I would definitely come back with friends as well.
The service was decent-the waiter did his best to explain the tasting menu, but something felt off when he mentioned needing to check with the budget. Unfortunately, the chicken wings & boneless wings were awful-tasting like they had been reheated, with a soggy texture & thick skin. The other dishes lacked flavor & were overly greasy. Even the churros were oily, seemingly fried in the same oil as the chicken. On the plus side, the vibe was nice, & the place was clean, but the bathroom was way too dark.
Had an amazing meal at Escondite DDO. Jessica Lee , our server & manager was very informative & very sweet. She recommended an amaretto sour made with pineapple which was delicious. We had the Baja tacos as well as the truffle mushroom quesadilla which she recommended adding chicken to. It was so good. The mango salad was very refreshing. Everything was lovely thanks to the great service & great food. I will definitely come back.
I often went to Escondite in downtown Montreal, & was super stocked they opened one in the west-island. It took me a few years before I got to try it out. I loved that the restaurant atmosphere is very similar to those in Montréal, but with some unique touches. It's the same food & the food.was pretty good. We had the a Mango salad which was good, but the mango wasn't as juicy & the salad wasn't as spicy as I had remembered, so I was a little bit disappointed, but it was still very good. We had some General Chappo chicken, very spicy & tasty. Also took the tuna tordata I think it was called, that was my favorite, very fresh & tasty. Then we had some El Pastor, Coliflower & Fish tacos. Again, from memory I felt they were better / fresher at the Montreal locations. Everything was still good, but I didn't taste the pineapple in the El Pastor & the Porc was a bit dried. Coliflower was good & also the fish Taco, but the frying of the fish made it heavy. Still all enjoyable, but we were quite full afterwards! We still took one of each desserts (churro & lime dessert). Churros were fresh & warm, the lime dessert was served in a bowl. Both were good. Nothing special to say about the service, it was good but I can't say it was amazing lol It was what I'd expect.
Overall, still a good place to go, we will be back for sure.
