Escondite delivers a vibrant exploration of Mexican street food culture characterized by bold spice profiles and authentic preparation methods. The menu centers on artisanal tacos featuring diverse fillings such as slow-cooked carnitas, seasoned grilled meats, and fresh vegetable medleys topped with house-made salsas. Beyond the taco selection, the kitchen prepares various Latin American staples including flavorful quesadillas and shareable appetizers designed for communal consumption. Each dish prioritizes high-quality ingredients to maintain traditional flavor integrity across the entire culinary lineup. The interior environment fosters a high-energy atmosphere through industrial-inspired decor and colorful mural accents that highlight the brand identity. Patrons engage with a menu that emphasizes complex textures and intense aromatics, ensuring a consistent representation of modern casual Mexican cuisine within a distinctive, urban-influenced setting that defines this specific culinary concept.
Escondite consistently earns praise for its vibrant atmosphere, creative decor, and authentic Mexican fusion cuisine that is packed with flavor. Many visitors highlight the delicious variety of tacos, fresh ceviche, and high quality margaritas as standout items that make for a memorable dining experience. The staff frequently receives recognition for being welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable, often going above and beyond to ensure guests feel at home during birthday celebrations or casual nights out. While some diners mention that the music can become quite loud and note that portions are designed for sharing, the majority of guests appreciate the overall energy and consistently fresh ingredients that make the restaurant a go to destination for a fun and tasty meal with friends and family.
Amazing tacos & very friendly service by Anna the bartender as well as the waitstaff Olivia & Sophia. Tried the camarones & Mr. Mole Tacos recommended by Anna the first time I visited, which were both equally great. Definitely recommend & on my list to visit again when in the area!
Absolutely nothing negative to say about this restaurant. Everything was amazing. The El General Chapo & the tacos al pastor… HOLY GUACAMOLE 🤩🤤 next-level flavor. Fresh, bold, & perfectly done.
One of those places you keep thinking about after you leave. 100% coming back.
Beautiful interior, excellent margaritas (aperol marg was particularly fantastic), & the food was so fresh, high quality, & delicious. Relaxed service but everyone was nice & helpful. Highly recommend the steak tacos!!
Good meal with my two young kids. The staff were friendly & the food excellent. Many different flavours & textures, which I love. This includes some creative interpretation of nachos & tacos which made it fun. Adult portions are on the smaller side, so if you're hungry, probably order two sets of two tacos (you can't mix & match). My only (very minor) complaint is that the dishes came very quickly, before we could even put a dent in the appetizers. Probably worth asking them to hold the mains until you're done if that's how you like to eat. Definitely recommend!
Escondite has become one of my all time favourite restaurants. I've tried almost every location & I have to say the West Island is the best! The service is always 10/10 like a few days ago I came to eat dinner with my friends & were served by Olivia, she was quick, attentive & frequently checked on us to make sure we had whatever we needed. Also not to mention a total sweetheart! It makes me sad that they're not as busy as they should be because the food & drinks are incredible! Come eat here & get a Margarita Medianoche, share a guac then grab the Esteak Koreano tacos, I promise you won't regret it!!
Escondite is so consistently fresh, delicious, & full of bold flavours! My friend & I are both from California & crave Cali-Mex & Escondite always hits! We always get the guac, trio of salsas, & their perfect chips. Some faves are their ribs (sweet, spicy, sticky, & fall off the bone), shrimp tacos, Baja tacos, & cilantro smash cocktails.
250$ for what's seen in attached picture, pactically theft. 8$ for a cornbread muffin & 10$ per taco? We picked this up down the street shortly after they opened on Sunday night & the tacos were dry. Unfathomable. Won't be ordering here again.
Water tasts like alge, I couldn't stomach it. Seems like a west island problem the restaurant should be aware of. No chips & salsa, no hot sause with tacos. Key ingredient was missing from my tacos (the cactus).
