Epicerie Pumpui est louée pour ses saveurs thaï authentiques et ses portions généreuses, avec des plats phares comme le pad thai, les currys et le riz gluant à la mangue mis en avant; les niveaux d'épices peuvent être très élevés et certains clients souhaiteraient des options non épicées, tandis que le goût global est décrit comme équilibré et authentique; le prix est abordable et les portions généreuses offrent un bon rapport qualité-prix; l'endroit est cosy et l'ambiance intime mais petit, avec peu de places et des files d'attente possibles lorsque l'établissement est complet, sans réservation; le service est généralement rapide et sympathique et l'ambiance convient pour un repas décontracté ou un rendez-vous, même si certaines visites signalent un service inégal.
One of my personal hidden gems in Montreal. It is in the heart of the little Italy which is a perfect area for a nice little date or soft evening. The menu is simple. You cannot go there & expect it to have a long list of things. They curate the menu every now & so, only keeping the best sellers on the constant. Personally, the pad thai & the wings are just my must haves.
The atmosphere is also a 10/10. It makes you feel like you've traveled when you didn't. Perfect to eat alone or accompanied. To be honest it's never bothered to go on my own to enjoy a meal of my own company. I'd say if you're a bigger group, do expect a little wait, or come early.
Service at times is a give or take. But usually pretty good so a 4 for me.
Do yourself a favor & try it! Simple but delicious!
The chicken wings were good. The pad thai noodles was different but good flavour. The pad kra pao had too much veggies, it was okay. Overall 7/10 for the dishes. The staff was welcoming & kind.

Petit trésors bien caché (aucun nom visible de la rue) mais fort intéressant à découvrir. Meilleur Pad Thaï depuis le big bang, beau au point d'avoir oublié de le photographier tellement j'ai plongé dedans rapidement. La place se remplit dès l'ouverture à midi, même un lundi. Je le recommande aux amateurs de fine cuisine thaï, les sauces sur la table réveilleront vos papilles pour la journée.
Mais pas vu d'épicerie ???
Lovely Thai restaurant with authentic food. Lots of different options for me to eat because I love this cuisine. I went to Thailand. I needed the real food & this is very close so I am very happy. Sometimes I like to have spicy food & then I come here so I really enjoy it.
J'ai pris plusieurs plats sur la carte. Ce n'est pas mauvais.... mais je n'y retournerai pas. Les galettes de citrouille étaient brûlées, que le centre était décent. Le pad Thai au tofu était très fade & sec, pas de sauce & un pain de nouilles. Le cury vert au poisson goûtait davantage le lait de coco & manquait de parfum & d'épices. Le mélange de légumes verts était correct. Le riz bien cuit.
La salade de choux goûtait que le panais & ça baignait dans une vinaigrette simili crémeuse.
Reste le riz collant à la mangue, mais j'ai aucune attente à ce point.
I don't understand why there is non spicy of each plate, the plate that i ordered (Pad Kaprao) was super delicious for me, but there is no child on earth could eat that because of 🌶?🔥, even my wife couldn't even taste it.
However, my wife ordered Tofu Pad Thai, as it was the only (non spicy) available on the menu, overall it was ok, but too oily, they could've use less oil to fry it.
I would go again there, but I hope one day they put into consideration that many people in this globe cannot eat spicy, & make non spicy version of each plate they have on the menu.
I've given this place a few tries since a lot of my friends love it, but each time it gets more expensive & somehow the food gets less flavourful. It's the oiliest, blandest Thai food I have ever eaten in my life, completely white washed, & maybe just getting away with it because they can? I really don't recommend. Save your money & time waiting in line.

Love love love food at Pumpui! I used to eat here ALL the time on weekends after pole classes when I was a grad student & it was one of my FAVORITE things to do with friends. I visited after three years & love to see that Pumpui is the same if not better & more popular lol. We got the spicy pork curry of the day, pad krapow & the salad with the creamy coconut dressing. All fantastic. No notes. Just delicious. Got the pear sticky rice for dessert. Also fantastic. LOVE the thai tea sauce on this. Also love the fact that they do a more seasonal pear sticky rice when mangoes are not as seasonal. My only complaint is that they're TOO POPULAR omg. If I don't get to pumpui soon after it opens, it's a guaranteed wait. Which is SO valid because the food is so good. The service people are nice tho & very diligent with seating. They have a small space & they do their best to have customers seated & flowing. They're also very communicative about wait times. I love Pumpui so much & wish them so well (so that I can always eat here when I visit Montreal!! 😁)
Great little Thai restaurant! The fritters were amazing! (ended up ordering another serving). Fast friendly service. Beautiful & delicious food. Large portions
Very cute & relaxed place, it's giving diner vibes. Now for the food, we got the yellow curry (my favourite) & the red curry. I did not like the red curry at all!! It was way too oily & the eggplants were 90% seeds. It was also way too spicy so you couldn't taste anything else. Would not order again. The yellow curry with the fish balls was really good but I do think they are better Thai places in Montreal. Good if you're looking for quick & easy meal.
