Mr. Victor Lopez and his wife Elena Garcia welcomes you at El Meson! This authentic Mexican restaurant located just across the Lachine Canal, in an old brick house in Old Lachine welcomes you in a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is already several years that this Mexican gem serves its secret family recipes. They started timidly years ago in Dorval for those who remember, and it is through satisfied customers that this Mexican restaurant has made a name for itself and today El Meson ranks among the best Latin restaurants in Montreal.

Don't be fooled! You are here to enjoy and savor the fine foods from Mexico. So forget about other so called Mexican restaurants that offer the same Americanized dishes over and over again. Here you'll taste real delicious Mexican specialties such as Carne Asada, the Nopalitos con carne (Cactus with beef), and many more... We were a group of 10 people & we had some vegans with us. Going to a Mexican restaurant would make sense to be able to find at least few vegan options besides guacamole...

Very good food. Pleasant atmosphere. We waited a bit for getting the food but the restaurant was packed on this Sunday evening. The Colombian waitress was super nice to us & especially to my aged mon. We'll go back.

Très déçu mes enfants & moi pour la fête des mères 2025 les plats n'ont pas de goût
Pour avoir manger des fruits de mer, horrible !!! Le ceviche dans ce le vinaigre très mauvais .
Par contre pour le service impeccable merci Bon service !!
Vous devriez goûter avant de les offrir à la clientèle

Amazing food, great portion size. We tried Enchiladas, chiles Rellenos both veg & Chicken Tacos. All of them were amazing. We tried the Harchhata & Jamaica drink. It was nice as well. Great ambience & the server was very nice too. A different vibe whole together. Would definitely recommend.

Assez petit comme resto. Rien à dire sur le service impeccable. Cuisine typique mexicaine mais rien pour me faire dire wow sauf la quantité pour le prix. Je dirais que quelques repas ressemble à une entrée mais trop gros pour l'être.2 des 3 desserts sont magiquement bon.

Puede decir que de los mejores restaurantes mexicanos en Montreal. La combinación de sabor y la atmósfera definitivamente te hacen sentir en Mexico.
La decoración es tan linda, mucho detalles que de seguro te traerán memorias!.

Been a customer since 2017. This is a destination every time we travel to Montreal.

2017 - Fantastic little find! Attentive, friendly, tri-lingual staff. Great views of the river & park if you can sit on the terrace. Great portion sizes, priced well. Don't forget the Sangria!

2025 - Sangria is still excellent. The cactus & sausage in the queso was very good, providing a different, lighter taste.

She had the tacos & I had the carne asada. We recommend anything on the menu.

Nous avons adoré venir ma blonde & moi. Nous avons été servi par un jeune homme si je ne me trompe il s'appelait Arthuro. Le service était plus que parfait & le temps d'attente pour la nourriture juste parfait. Les drinks autant de type mocktails que cocktails était très bon. C'est un plaisir pour l'estomac & les yeux de venir à chaque fois au El meson 👌

food is always beyond amazing! sometimes the service is lacking a little (waiters take a long time to serve you, will sometimes guilt you into tipping) & it can get quite crowded in the restaurant. but el meson is one of my fav places to go for dinner even on a busy night with slow service 😊💗

We have been multiple times for their excellent lunch menu. Great value & great food in a cozy setting (can be a little cramped but makes it feel more homey!).
Some very minor service issues. They often bring the food out very fast so as soon as one course is finished, or even before everyone has finished, the next plate arrives. I realise this could be a positive for a lot of people but I like a bit more space. Also one of the waiters called me'lady' for the whole meal. Perhaps a miss-translation but comes across a little rude in English.
But overall excellent, have been three times & will keep going back.

Love this place! Family run, little place, but food is great, & don't have too much trouble getting a reservation. I always order their seafood platter, it's so good, & only $35. It should be $55, imho. Parking is a bit of a pain, it's metered, but bearable.

Seafood platter has 4 butterflied shrimp, tons of mussels, nice piece of white fish, cooked perfectly, scallops, & some garlic bread.

Love the ambiance, always 3/4 full when I've been there, lots happening, but not too loud.
