Mr. Victor Lopez and his wife Elena Garcia welcomes you at El Meson! This authentic Mexican restaurant located just across the Lachine Canal, in an old brick house in Old Lachine welcomes you in a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is already several years that this Mexican gem serves its secret family recipes. They started timidly years ago in Dorval for those who remember, and it is through satisfied customers that this Mexican restaurant has made a name for itself and today El Meson ranks among the best Latin restaurants in Montreal.

Don't be fooled! You are here to enjoy and savor the fine foods from Mexico. So forget about other so called Mexican restaurants that offer the same Americanized dishes over and over again. Here you'll taste real delicious Mexican specialties such as Carne Asada, the Nopalitos con carne (Cactus with beef), and many more... Staff & service were great, food was fresh & tasty. We had a wonderful meal sipping on refreshing Margaritas. Ambiance is laid back & decor sets the mood. Nice location facing the canal.

Petit resto agréable. Nourriture très bonne. Pas pour un grand groupe. Étions 12.
Un des mets choisis prenait 25,30 minutes de préparation. On devrait être averti de ce fait. Car tous doivent attende pour être servi. Trop serré & difficulté de se déplacer.
Un des mets à peine entamé à été desservi & jeté sans qu'on demande si c'était terminé. Oups!! Pas impressionné.

Adorable « maman propriétaire « qui nous accueille avec son sourire & sa bonne humeur!
Nous sommes résidents des Laurentides, ( anciennement du sud-ouest)mais nous continuons d'y aller 4 à 6 fois par année car pour nous il n'y a pas d'équivalent

Quaint environment. Guacamole & cactus salad were excellent. Enchilada had a bit too much sauce & could be baked more. It wasn't very hot. Overall, a nice place.

Le personnel est très gentil mais le service est slow. 45 minutes pour la bouffe & personne est venue nous voir pendant qu'on mangeait pour assurer que tout était correct..un autre 20minutes avant qu'on pouvait avoir la facture. Malgré tout ça, l'ambiance & la nourriture vaut la peine & les margaritas sont excellents. Samedi soir n'est peut-être pas le meilleur choix

Everything was awesome - ambience-food & staff. The only disappointment was the margarita. Way too sweet- I was so looking forward to a good margarita Will go back again & I will request a magarita with less sugar & more tequila 😊.

Food was okay. I have had much tastier Mexican food. We were pretty much ignored after we were served our main dishes. No one came to offer us coffee or dessert (which is not offered anyway - pity).
The good: Lovely ambience, cosy, not too loud, wait staff very pleasant.
The bad: Pitcher of Margarita was small & way too sweet. Plating & presentation need a little more attention. For Mexican food, I was expecting a lot more flavour, & heat. Portions are not generous.
Suggestions: Put something on the table to munch on over drink appetizers, e.g salsa with tortillas, olives, pickled veggies....be a lot more generous on the portions of rice & veggies with the mains; it's like they are an after-thought. I had a nice pechuga with a teeny, tiny serving of rice buried under some slivers of over-cooked bell peppers. & ONE tortilla chip with a thin line of refried beans piped onto it.

Food: I tried the guacamole & the queso fundido as apps, & I had the Napolitos con carne as a main. Everything tasted authentic & was very well seasoned. Excellent food. Strangely, my only negative feedback is regarding the nachos served with the guacamole. They seemed packaged & not fresh. But this is minor compared to the taste of everything else.

Environment: small & cozy. Felt like home. We loved it.

Note: we were a group of 9 who got together for a 25-year high school reunion. We want to apologize to the staff & other clients for how loud we probably were. It was such a special night for us & the staff was so polite & courteous with us. Thank you!!!
