Welcome to Dunya, a cozy spot at the corner of Sherbrooke and Saint Laurent in Montreal. We serve up simple, delicious shawarma and falafel, made with care and consistency, just like back home with a touch of modern flair. Our goal is to offer tasty, affordable meals that everyone can enjoy, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down with friends. We can’t wait to share our love for good food with you. Come by and say hello!
Overall, reviews describe Dunya as one of the best shawarma spots in Montreal with authentic Lebanese flavor, a simple but high quality menu, and very reasonable prices. The chicken shawarma is consistently juicy and well seasoned, the beef shawarma earns praise for depth of flavor, and the garlic toum sauce is a standout. The falafel is often called the best in town, and the fattoush and fresh sides are regularly praised. Fries are crispy and the homemade sauces and dips are a highlight, with ice cream and peach iced tea winning fans as well. The atmosphere is cozy and clean, with friendly, attentive staff and a welcoming vibe that makes it feel like home. Some notes mention occasional order mix ups with delivery and limited seating, and a few people found portions lighter or the chicken a touch salty, but the overall experience remains reliable and consistently delicious. Dunya is a go to for takeout or dine in for authentic Lebanese shawarma in Montreal.
Am writing this in faire professional way considering myself a foodie & a shawerma eater.
About the resto, when I decided to go I had to run to catch it before they close at 10:00 pm which I find a bit odd specially on the weekend. very good location in downtown & a bit tricky to park if you're driving, but still worth it for me. Very cozy nice warm contemporary little place. The guy taking the orders seems new in training & not familiar with the Middle Eastern cuisine the restaurant is offering which I find it's very important specially when the clients of such place could be demanding. That being said The manager/owner was simply giving him a hand & she took care of the confusions & language barrier leaving me in a positive experience.
A first time visitor ordered 1 chicken & 1 beef shawarma. Size & value is good enough for average person.
The ingredients of both sandwiches are very well prepared & cooked. The sauces (tahini & garlic) are super tasty & dominates the Lebanese taste of the sandwich. I personally think that a little more meat in both sandwiches will bring it to perfection & make it more rich & better value. Good luck to the owner this could be my favorite shawerma place for now
Suggestions :
-add more meat in the sandwich
-more familiar person with the cuisine at the cashier

i am disapointed after reading all the comments about how good the shawarma is, i took the beef shawarma, it s eatable, not wow, the amount of filling was the bare minimum, flavour wise, i can t taste any shawarma flavour, the meat taste wad lost, the sauce was lacking too, super watery, couldn t taste any tarator.
Finally, the place & atmosphere are good & the staff is nice.
Absolutely the best place for chicken & beef shawarma, falafel, fattoush, sauces & drinks.
A small menu that they have mastered to perfection.
Rami,Imad,Megan & Michael are nothing but welcoming & nice to all customers who walk in.
If you want to taste what authentic sandwiches in Lebanon taste like, save yourself the ticket & go visit Dunya

I don't say this lightly, the best Shawarma I've ever had. The ingredients, the knowledge, the love - it's all there. Michael & the rest of the crew were extremely kind & welcoming. The spicy beef shawarma with fries inside is my favorite. The falafel, homemade sauces, & the fries were all amazing. A lot of love & care in everything. The homemade iced tea is perfect.Coming back whenever I'm in Montreal.
Old school shawarma, like the one from back home. No unnecessary stuffings like lettuce to make it seem larger than it is. The beef & chicken are tender & grilled to perfection. The garlic sauce tastes like garlic, as it should. Reasonably priced in today's economy.
This is truly the best shawarma I've ever had, & trust me I tried a lot. Chicken shawarma with no freaking tomatoes or cucumbers like in other places, everything inside is pickled like it should be. The garlic sauce is to die for, yet you can still kiss your girlfriend afterwards with no weird smells, if you know you know & just 9$ which is a steel in this economy!
Went to try Dunya during the weekend & it was a blast. Their shawarma is the best in montreal. They serve it the authentic way. The fries were super crunchy. Everything was super fresh & the staff were very welcoming & accommodating. We were two people & we order 2 shawarmas each. & 1 was more than enough for a person. Generous portions. & the garlic sauce to sandwich ratio was perfect. Props to the team for not re-inventing the wheel & keeping the authentic Lebanese shawarma scene in montreal alive !
I tried falafel, beef, & chicken shawarma sandwiches. My personal favorite is falafel, followed by beef. The chicken is just okay for me because it has a strong garlic sauce, which makes it my least favorite. The usual waiting time for an order is 15-20 minutes. .
