Review Summary

Dunya has earned a reputation as a standout destination in Montreal for authentic, high-quality Lebanese cuisine. Visitors consistently praise the flavorful chicken and beef shawarma, noting the juicy, well-seasoned meat and the perfectly balanced garlic sauce. The menu is celebrated for its freshness and simplicity, with the falafel, crispy fries, and house-made ice cream receiving frequent acclaim. While the restaurant is often busy, resulting in lines and limited seating, guests describe the atmosphere as warm and inviting. The staff is widely recognized for being exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and hardworking, often going above and beyond to ensure a positive customer experience, which makes the food and overall vibe well worth the visit.

Heard a lot of hype around this place so decided to give it a try. We went on a Saturday evening so of course it was busy but the line to order did move pretty fast. The nice lady at the counter said it might take 25 minutes since it was so busy which is understandable as it's a pretty small spot but It was actually ready in only 15 minutes! We got one chicken & one beef. Both were super yummy but I will say the beef was better. It had a really yummy sauce & I loved how the tomatoes seemed to have been a bit grilled? The meat on both was juicy & seasoned super well. The only thing I would improve is the bread as it was just default pita bread, I would have loved if it was fresh saj bread but that is personal preference ig. All in all I'd definitely come back & would love to try their falafel or hummus next.

So far I've avoided this place as it sign is only in Arabic, which is very uncommon. The long lines all day long convinced me to teat (& taste) it out. I arrived at 11:40 AM on Tuesday (they are close on Mondays). There was already a line-up. The wait time:
* is relatively short till you pay & get a buzzer, which tells you when your order is ready
* is relatively long till you get the food.
The place is small; somehow I found a table.

I took falafel sandwich which was good & satisfying, at a good price. While the vegetables were fresh the pita wasn't so fresh (despite that it was warmed).

All in all it's a good deal, as long as you arrive early & have about 30 minutes(!) to devote to it.

⚠? I have a serious complaint about Dunya Shawarma in Montreal…

They've completely ruined shawarma & falafel for me everywhere else.

I tried both, & now I have a problem: how am I supposed to go back home & pretend the other stuff is okay? 😂

The place was shockingly clean for how busy it was, the staff were so friendly I started wondering if they knew me, & the atmosphere was just incredible.

Then came the food… game over. The shawarma was fresh, juicy, & packed with flavour. The falafel? Crispy outside, perfect inside. This isn't'Lebanese-inspired.' They somehow smuggled the taste of Lebanon straight into Montreal.

Every bite felt like it was made specifically for my taste buds.

Would I drive nine hours from Windsor just to eat here again?

Unfortunately for my gas tank… ABSOLUTELY. 😂

Nothing but positive feedback. Solid fresh shawarma. You can see them making everything from scratch. From Vancouver would come here frequently if I was a local.

Most authentic Lebanese shawarma you will have in Canada (better than Toronto or anywhere else). It ranks high even in Lebanon but eat it fresh the way they give it to you.

Authentic Middle Eastern restaurant. Very tasty falafel with fresh herbs for such a reasonable price (it's really hard to find good food that isn't expensive these days in Montréal).

The line can get pretty long, especially in the afternoons, but the way they make everything fresh makes it worth the wait.

Fantastic shawarma & excellent service! We had both the chicken & beef, & they were fresh, flavorful, & cooked perfectly. We also tried the bozza ice cream, & it was the perfect way to end the meal. The staff were welcoming, & the atmosphere was warm & inviting. We'll definitely be back! 10/10
