Duc de Lorraine is widely recognized for its elegant Parisian atmosphere, stunning pastry displays, and prime location near the Oratoire Saint Joseph. Many patrons enjoy the high-quality desserts, particularly the trompe l'oeil pastries, croissants, and unique cakes, often describing them as visually impressive and delicious. The service frequently stands out, with numerous guests commending the attentive, professional, and welcoming nature of the staff. While the experience is often highlighted as a highlight of visiting Montreal, some feedback notes that the pricing is quite high for the portions provided. While the majority of guests have a wonderful experience, inconsistent service and occasional issues with food temperature or preparation have been mentioned by some. Overall, it remains a popular choice for celebrations and special occasions where guests are looking for a refined, authentic atmosphere.
I bought some pastries there. The prices are RIDICULOUS. The only reason I went was because it is supposed to be one of the best in Montreal. I almost had a heart attack seeing the prices. You can find just as good for half the price at many places. Very over rated. The cashier kept trying to get me to buy more stuff. No thank you. Honestly nothing exceptional.
Parfait ,rien à dire , très bon service ,pâtisserie succulente ,prix raisonnable, personnels agréable ,à renouveler lors de notre prochain voyage à Montréal .
I went often as a little girl. It was a special then, & it still is. The staff was accommodating & caring to my requests regarding the fact that I am in a motorized wheelchair. Friendly staff, pastries to die for, & other yummy things. Back to memo
I was very disappointed by my dining experience. I had invited 4 family members to join me for a light lunch. The last time I had come in May 2014 I found the service a little distracted but I excused it as a one-time event. Unfortunately it was worse this time. The waiters were busy talking amongst themselves & our orders got mixed up & some items were forgotten. The salad had a bug in it & it was left uneaten. No one inquired as to why it had not been touched. I expected much more from this establishment. We will not be returning.
Extremely disappointed & somewhat embarrassed at having subjected
my out of town guests to an uncomfortable & lacklustre meal.
The reputation of this restaurant has diminished considerably.
The staff numbers plenty yet attention to orders are non
existant.
The food quality itself is below par & hygiene is now an
issue. It is unfortunate but I can no longer continue to
recommend or frequent this particular establishment.
Every time I visit this fabulous place with incredible design, décor & service especially, the excellent taste of the food comes naturally. Genuine French pastry, extremely tasty croissants & coffees. What a fantastic scenic view form the terrace. A+++
This is my go to. Want to sit & enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend? perfect. Need a sandwich on the run? got it. Have a sweet tooth that needs to be addressed. the perfect remedy. The owners work everyday & the time, energy, & effort they put in is immediately apparent. Worth every penny.
