Duc de Lorraine is widely recognized for its beautiful Parisian atmosphere and an impressive selection of high quality pastries, cakes, and croissants that many visitors find visually stunning and delicious. While the ambiance and sweet treats are often described as a highlight of the experience, opinions regarding the savory menu and service levels vary, with some guests praising the attentive, professional staff and others noting inconsistencies in wait times or portion sizes. Although the pricing is frequently mentioned as being on the higher end, many patrons view the location as a lovely spot for special occasions, elegant brunches, or a memorable visit while exploring the area near the oratory.

I have been going to this place for over 20 years for various things such as cakes, pastries, breakfast, & even Mother's Day brunches with my mother. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was very disappointing.
Without any notice, after ordering a $60 plate consisting of a bagel & lobster eggs Benedict, I realized it no longer came with potatoes or fruit, which used to be included as part of the full arrangement. The portion & overall presentation were not what I expected for the price paid.
On top of that, the service was not pleasant & did not reflect the quality of experiences I had in the past. Something has definitely changed over the years.
Be aware - it is very expensive for what you receive.
This place is always a good option! If you want to have breakfast, dinner or just a coffee… you'll receive an excellent service & quality. Some dishes are very basic & pricey for what they are, but the flavours are always very good. Their pancakes are incredible!!
It's has its own style & it's very nice to be there specially during summer when the terrace is open! Cozy, classy, elegant… hidden gem! The waiters & manager will always make sure you have everything you need to be comfortable.
We recently visited Duc de Lorraine & had a mixed experience overall. The sandwiches were good, but extremely buttery. A little too much for my taste, & it didn't sit very well with me afterward. The fries were fine but nothing particularly memorable.
We also tried several of the trompe-l'oeil pastries. At $15 each, they were smaller than we expected. They were decent overall, with the raspberry & mango being the standout flavours. The lemon one was also pretty good. Unfortunately, the coffee wasn't great.
What really made the experience enjoyable was the service. The waiter & staff were all very friendly & welcoming. They joked around with my 8-year-old son & made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. We sat outside on the terrace, which was lovely, & the heat lamps were a nice touch since it was a bit breezy that afternoon.
Everything about our experience felt well organized & pleasant. The staff were polite, the ordering process was simple, & the food arrived fresh & delicious. The atmosphere added a nice touch too. I'd happily return in the future.
What a dessert experience I had! The place was beautiful, the desserts were all nicely laid out. I found the little treats very hard to refuse. Ended up having quite a few niche dessert items. The staff were professional, but the service could be a bit quicker.
