Review Summary

Duc de Lorraine is widely recognized for its beautiful Parisian atmosphere and an impressive selection of high quality pastries, cakes, and croissants that many visitors find visually stunning and delicious. While the ambiance and sweet treats are often described as a highlight of the experience, opinions regarding the savory menu and service levels vary, with some guests praising the attentive, professional staff and others noting inconsistencies in wait times or portion sizes. Although the pricing is frequently mentioned as being on the higher end, many patrons view the location as a lovely spot for special occasions, elegant brunches, or a memorable visit while exploring the area near the oratory.

I had heard so many great things about Duke de Lorraine, from the quality of the food to the impeccable service, so I was genuinely excited to try it for brunch, BUT…

Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the reputation. I ordered the smoked salmon Eggs Benedict, St Joseph, a dish priced at $47. At that price point, expectations naturally become much higher. You expect something memorable, whether through exceptional presentation, outstanding flavors, flawless service, attention to detail, or simply a dish served hot & within a reasonable amount of time. Instead, after a fairly long wait, my plate arrived cold, with only the potatoes being warm. I asked for a replacement, & while the request was handled professionally, it took another 30 minutes before the second plate arrived. Disappointingly, it was cold as well. At that point, I chose not to complain again.

What made the situation even more frustrating was that the dish itself was very ordinary. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but there was also nothing that justified either the price or the restaurant's reputation. The presentation was basic, the flavors were standard, & there was no creative touch or special seasoning that made it stand out.

One detail that left me puzzled was the three small jars of jam placed on the table. They look attractive, but no bread or pastry was served, which made them feel more decorative than functional.

Overall, I found the experience overrated for the price. The setting is beautiful, the staff are pleasant, & the dessert display is impressive, but the food simply did not meet my expectations. I might return one day to try the pastries & desserts because they looked exceptional, but based on this brunch experience alone, I would not personally recommend it as a brunch destination.

For the price we paid, food was decent, ambiance & atmosphere is nice. Service was horrendous, no one took our order for a good 15 minutes, did not get water until we ask again 30 mins in. Ordered dessert, waited 30 minutes & staff forgot about it. When we finally got the dessert it was not even the right one. Staff seems nice, just service was appalling

Had a wonderful experience at Duc Du Lorraine! The food was absolutely delicious, & every dish was beautifully prepared. A special thank you to Iris, who provided exceptional service throughout our visit. She was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, & made us feel truly welcomed. Her recommendations were spot on, & she helped make the experience even more enjoyable.

Between the excellent food, charming atmosphere, & outstanding service from Iris, this was easily one of the highlights of our trip. We will definitely be back!

Highly recommend! 😊🍽?✨
