Opinions of Duc de Lorraine describe a refined Parisian vibe with an impressive array of pastries and desserts that many reviewers call among the best in Montreal, from oversized croissants to intricate trompe l'oeil creations and a tarte au citron that draws rave comments. The bakery and cafe blend an elegant, cozy atmosphere near Oratoire Saint Joseph with consistently attentive, friendly service that makes guests feel welcome whether celebrating a birthday, enjoying a luxurious brunch, or stopping in for pastry and coffee. The food and desserts are praised for quality and presentation, and the overall experience is often described as charming, polished, and memorable, with a sense that the place truly delivers on its reputation. While prices are frequently noted as high and some guests mention long waits or moments of uneven service, many reviewers feel the combination of flavor, artistry, and service justifies the cost and invites return visits for special occasions or a refined treat.
Had a fantastic dining experience at Duc De Lorraine in Montreal! The meal was outstanding & our server Killian was exceptional, adding a personal touch to our visit. We'll definitely be returning!
Amazing food & exceptional service! Killian went above & beyond to assist us, including securing the booster seat for our little one. Would recommend to anyone in the Montreal area.

The service wasn't terrible but did not match the level of prices. We had to ask for napkins on the table. The waiter disappeared after the meal was delivered - would have liked to ask for a condiment to accompany the fries that were ordered. We had to find the waiter again to pay the bill. Normally not a big issue but at the prices that they charge, I expect a lot more attention.
The food was over priced & inedible. Three adults for lunch without alcohol was just under $268!! This is without any alcohol 3 appetizers, 2 mains, I bottle of sparkling water & 1 espresso. no dessert. Two of us ordered the escargot & had to return it. It came at room temp & was so undersalted that all you could taste was overwhelming garlic. They asked us why we returned the food & then charged us for the 2 apps anyways. The burger which 2 people shared was fine but not worth the price. The ham added to the burger took away from the taste of the burger. The Mediterranean omelette was fine but under seasoned & slightly over cooked. All in all, my advice, skip the food. Stick to their pastries, croissant which are delightful & totally worth the price.
My favorite Bistro in Montreal! Lovely staff, location, lots of pastries & other food choices too. A must'see for all tourists that would like to experience Montreal with a French touch:)

Des bonnes patisseries, & un service impeccable. Ils prennent le temps d’expliquer chaque patisserie. A quelques minutes de l’oratoire St-Joseph. Le prix des patisseries & cher quand même.
