Duc de Lorraine is widely recognized for its elegant Parisian atmosphere, stunning pastry displays, and prime location near the Oratoire Saint Joseph. Many patrons enjoy the high-quality desserts, particularly the trompe l'oeil pastries, croissants, and unique cakes, often describing them as visually impressive and delicious. The service frequently stands out, with numerous guests commending the attentive, professional, and welcoming nature of the staff. While the experience is often highlighted as a highlight of visiting Montreal, some feedback notes that the pricing is quite high for the portions provided. While the majority of guests have a wonderful experience, inconsistent service and occasional issues with food temperature or preparation have been mentioned by some. Overall, it remains a popular choice for celebrations and special occasions where guests are looking for a refined, authentic atmosphere.

The food is ok but the pricey compared with the quality. We went there without reservation & have to sit outside. It was cold & busy. I dont think I would come back again.
Although the food, service & ambiance were great, we were disappointed, as we went for particular desserts, & 2 of 4 desserts ordered were not available. The prices are just exorbitant & the quality or presentation isn't what you would expect for price. Also, our table was very wobbly, which seems to also not go with such an expensive place... the servers were very gracious in fixing everything with a smile, but really, when you are having hot coffee... the last thing you want is a wobbly table where your hot drink can call.... especially again for the price paid!
We honestly won't go back because it's just too pricey to be disappointed....
Probably one of the more expensive brunches I've had. I can see a lot of desire to get things right. the service was what made this not a 5 star. It wasn't flawless but if you are charging me that kind of money, I want flawless. My table was not ready, but I saw empty tables... at 9AM in the morning. it was not peak time. They had three times (3 times) crashes of plates & glasses falling to the ground. sure....It happens, sure, but three times? We ordered coffee, one came out early & the other took a lot of time time...the less complicated one to make as well. they just didn't read the room correctly. there was plenty of staff (plenty!). I made a reservation, we had to wait at the bar...it was cold in the area because the door was open....& I didn't get a warm beverage drink. We ordered the lobster benedict & the filet mignon benedict. It tasted great. the dining hall is tight & the service staff looked new & nervous. it showed. Parking was a breeze though.
Over-hype
The service was 1A very kind waitress & all staff…. But this is an overrated resto, we paid 38 +tax for a hamburguer that the chef forgot to put the onion… same taste & more vegetables at Macdonalds… an almost $60 for a stake that was'well done' but ordered medium.
The pastries save the day… mother's day
& they are petfriendly thats a sta
I like sometimes to stop on my way home at different places & try different things. So, I stopped here to get some take out desserts. The take out box is pretty fancy, & so is the place in general. The desserts are good, but nothing that will take your breath away or anything. But what really impresses is the price. Pretty big disparity when it comes to the price & what is being offered. & that's my reason for the 3 stars.
To be fair, this is more the kind of place you bring someone you are trying to impress & not a place you come for the food.
