Over the generations, the Desgroseilliers family diversified its agricultural activities to share the fruits of their labour with the general public. In the 1920s, in every spring, Victor tapped maple trees located on his land to produce maple syrup for his family and some grocery stores in Montreal. The maple business became so big that Victor built a small shack in the middle of the sugar bush, a friendly gathering place in which to receive family and friends. This is the spirit that still persists today, at the Labranche sugar shack.
From the spirit of the most recent generation born in 2009, the Domaine Labranche now includes the maple sugar business, a cider mill and winery, where liquor is now produced from the fertile lands of St. Isidore, where you’ll find unique products that highlight the uniqueness of Quebec lands.True to their origins, the Desgroseilliers family deepen their skills, working in harmony with nature, and continue on their quest to introduce and offer high-quality innovative products.
Reviews of Domaine Labranche describe a varied, family friendly sugar shack experience set on a historic site with farm animals, a cozy fire pit, and options to explore an orchard, a maple grove and a vineyard, plus on site dining. The place is praised for a wide range of dietary options, including gluten free, lactose free, vegetarian and vegan meals, and generous portions that satisfy groups; the vegan dishes are highlighted as particularly good. The atmosphere is described as charming with old French Canadian flair, and the grounds offer activities such as carriage rides and farm visits alongside apple picking and wine tasting. Service is noted as friendly by many, though some reviews report slow service or small, pricey portions and occasional lapses. Overall, Domaine Labranche is seen as one of the better sugar shack choices in the region and a reliable option for families and diverse dietary needs.
Went there for lunch with a group of friends. Food tasted okay, service was ok, but it's pretty much only getting the food there & having the water pitchers replaced (& one'is every fine over here?'). We had to ask to have the pickled dishes since they didn't seem to bring them by default. I ate the pea soup, & it tasted fine to me, but some friends that ate the vegetable soup weren't impressed by it. The time between each service can be a bit long, especially since we only have the reservation for two hours, but maybe they just wait until all plates seem pretty much empty before bringing the next dishes. Even if we only had two hours, we weren't pressured into leaving after our timeframe was over (perhaps they weren't fully booked), so that was nice.
We went to see the animals (horses, birds, sheeps, goats, pigs, chicken, bunnies). The maple taffy is included in the experience & not limited to one per person. There is a bar, a small shop, a small outdoor playground for children (a slide, monkey bars, a few swings), a firepit or two (probably lit in the evenings) & a truck-drawn carriage (2.50$ per person).

This place is so good for people who have to eat gluten free. This was the first time I was going to a sugar shack while I have to eat gluten free. Sometimes when you have to eat gluten free everything is dry or not so good. But this place has a very good gluten free menu. I was very surprised & It's nice to be able to enjoy food like others. the maple syrup here is very good as well, we took a bottle home.
Friendly service, great food. Great vegetarian food. Best price for this quality. We'll certainly come back. We went on the tractor ride & they told us all about the history of the farm. They also have a small animal farm. This place was very clean & kudoos to a very well organized establishment.

Quite good! Basically it's a great option for anyone, but I feel like it is a particularly good option for vegetarians &/or with families with older teens. I liked that there is a teen price - so your kids less than 15 year olds can still eat at a discounted rate.
I took the vegetarian option & my dinner mates took the regular option. My food was given separately, which was nice to prevent contamination. The meat eaters liked their food as well.
The waitresses were nice & attentive.
There was a little barn with some cute piglets, goats, rabbits & fowl.

Awesome place for a family trip to the sugar shack! Highly recommended for a traditional quebecois breakfast. This is a very old site with history dating back to first contact with the Mohawk in this area. This is located in the heart of old ktown ...
This place has everything you can ask for to eat & the maple syrup is sooooooo good. Check it out & let them know jackbrown9120 sent you & win a prize 🏆 ... #spicyadventuresKTOWN. Please like this post if you enjoyed my photo post ... thanks 😊
