Dominic "Dick" Potenza was born in West Virginia and grew up in Utica, New York. He became well known in the Rochester - Buffalo area during the 40’s as a head-waiter in the supper-club type restaurants of the era. It was at one of these supper-clubs that he met his future wife, jazz accordionist Ann Collecchia, who performed using the stage name of Ann Russell. Together, they envisioned a fast food restaurant that would serve an original style hamburger with their own special sauce. After much thought, this original style hamburger took the form of a toasted bun containing a thin patty that would cook quickly. After they modified and combined two recipes that they brought with them from Rochester, Dick and Ann developed their famous hot sauce.

Best burger I've have in ages. The fries were amazing, too. &, to top it all off, I didn't have to pay an arm & a leg for it. A double cheeseburger with fries & a drink costs like 13.50View more

Ordered after hearing & reading good reviews. The burgers were amazing. The poutine, on the other hand, was really bad. The fries felt like frozen fries that weren't cooked enough, no gravy (instead some weird spicy red "sauce") & no cheese curds.View more

This place just oozes nostalgia. It's a nothing place really. But it's their kosher beef hamburgers as thin as a pancake with burger buns squished as thin as a pancake or less, piles with minced onions & their special sauce. I can't explain it just tastes soooo good. & the pricing is totally not worth it at all. But it's so unique & tasty so I go & get my fill once in a blue moon & pay too much money for a baby sized burger lol. Their fries are like match sticks & I don't like them as the also don't retain heat well & by the time you get them to the table they are nearly room temp. Service is nothing to talk about as it's good. But all in all every location is consistent & awesome.View more

Love this place, location, staff, service & authentic burgers. Thin smash burger type with a unique sauce. Hotdogs are quite good too, prepared quite different from the usual steamed style & on toasted buns. Thin crispy french fries too.View more
