Dic Ann's Hamburgers Montreal North, Montreal: Menu, Reviews & Reservations (2026)
BurgersPoutine
Dominic "Dick" Potenza was born in West Virginia and grew up in Utica, New York. He became well known in the Rochester - Buffalo area during the 40’s as a head-waiter in the supper-club type restaurants of the era. It was at one of these supper-clubs that he met his future wife, jazz accordionist Ann Collecchia, who performed using the stage name of Ann Russell. Together, they envisioned a fast food restaurant that would serve an original style hamburger with their own special sauce. After much thought, this original style hamburger took the form of a toasted bun containing a thin patty that would cook quickly. After they modified and combined two recipes that they brought with them from Rochester, Dick and Ann developed their famous hot sauce.

Review Summary

Overall, Dic Ann's Hamburgers is described as a nostalgic, no frills favorite where simple, well made burgers with fresh ingredients and a flavorful sauce stand out, and where the vibe feels timeless and welcoming with a focus on care and consistency; some reviewers note occasional flaws like fries not cooked long enough or poutine issues and a few service hiccups at the counter, but the sentiment is overwhelmingly positive with calls that the burgers are among the best in town, the atmosphere and cleanliness of the original location are appreciated, and the plate shows that classic fast food done right can still win.

This place just oozes nostalgia. It's a nothing place really. But it's their kosher beef hamburgers as thin as a pancake with burger buns squished as thin as a pancake or less, piles with minced onions & their special sauce. I can't explain it just tastes soooo good. & the pricing is totally not worth it at all. But it's so unique & tasty so I go & get my fill once in a blue moon & pay too much money for a baby sized burger lol. Their fries are like match sticks & I don't like them as the also don't retain heat well & by the time you get them to the table they are nearly room temp. Service is nothing to talk about as it's good. But all in all every location is consistent & awesome.

Love this place, location, staff, service & authentic burgers. Thin smash burger type with a unique sauce. Hotdogs are quite good too, prepared quite different from the usual steamed style & on toasted buns. Thin crispy french fries too.
