Daldongnae is widely seen as a top pick for Korean BBQ in Montreal, praised for high quality meats, authentic flavors, the interactive grill at the table, and generous unlimited side dishes that complement the meal. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with strong appeal for groups and social dining. The new location maintains solid service and shorter waiting times, though on busy nights service can be slow or variable, and some visits note smoke from the kitchen and occasional gaps in communication about the menu or timing. Halal options and accommodations for dietary needs are appreciated, while price levels are seen as fair for the quality by many, though a few find the bill high for a one-off splurge. Overall, Daldongnae is repeatedly recommended, with emphasis on meat quality, variety of sides, and a vibrant dining experience, encouraging return visits.
?I came here solo, exhausted & incredibly hungry. To be fair, the food tasted good-though honestly, I was so starving that anything would have tasted good at that point. However, $70 for tiny portions of chicken thighs & short rib is a total rip-off. The service was terrible & slow, but the worst part was the'get out' vibe. I went to the washroom & came back to find the bill already sitting on my table. No hospitality at all, just a rush to get me out the door. I won't be back.

Nowhere on the website does it say that an 18% tip is imposed on groups of 6. Springing this onto our group right before our meal is unethical & serves to dodge consumer protection laws barely.
Additionally, 18% when we're the ones doing the cooking is....ambitious at best
The food's fine & well. But a bit pricey for the small amount of meat & rushed atmosphere. The flume in the middle also makes it awkward to speak with your diagonal friend.
We ordered the beef short rib & beef short plate for a table BBQ, & the meal came with a generous assortment of complimentary sides. These included corn cheese, steamed egg, fresh lettuce for wraps, soybean stew, & around five additional small dishes, which added nice variety to the meal & made the table feel full.
The meat quality itself was solid. The beef options are also halal! Both cuts had a good balance of fat & lean, which helped keep them juicy & flavorful as they cooked on the grill. They developed a nice sear without becoming dry, & overall the BBQ experience was enjoyable from a taste perspective. The steamed egg side dish was soft, well-seasoned, & paired really nicely with the richer, heavier meats.
However, the pricing felt quite high for what we ordered. For just two meat dishes, the total came out to nearly $80 including tip, which is expensive for a BBQ spot, even considering the included sides. It didn't quite feel like the portion size justified the cost.
Service was another downside. It was noticeably slow throughout the meal, & at one point we actually had to get up & call a waiter because no one was checking in on our table. That lack of attentiveness took away from the overall dining experience, especially for a place at this price point where you'd expect more consistent service.
Question repas bien banale.
Je ne recommande pas.

The only Korean bbq I would go to. The meat portions vary but it's not too bad. You get quite the selection of side dishes & FREE refills! The service they can work on but it's not that bad either. They do ask you to order one meat per person so if you go as a group be prepared to pay for that
Ça fait 6 ans que je vais au Daldongnae & c'est un endroit imbattable pour de la nourriture abordable de bonne qualité ! Le service est rapide & le staff est sympathique.
Really good overall, meats are a bit under seasoned but they give you a decent amount of sides. Prices are a bit high for the amount of meat you get. Tons of flavours of soju.
Awful experience. I was waiting for the seats but the server told me that I can't stay indoor because they have a big group people coming. I asked if I can stay in the entryway since it was raining outside. The answer was no. Not sure why. Another couple with 2 little kids were kicked out of the door in the rain as well. I believe we come for food but not for begging food.
Food was excellent. Restaurant is right downtown Mtl, not far from Guy métro. Service is fast.
Meat is really fresh, Soju is great. Soup & pancake are savory.
BRAVO 👍
This has always been my go-to KBBQ place. I've been going to the original location ever since they opened & the experience has been very consistent over the years. The new location is the same (if not better), with less waiting times. I also found out that it's Halal so it's a big plus for such an authentic KBBQ restaurant. The vibe is always immaculate, the service can be slow at times but understandable as it gets really hectic depending on the day of the week. It's great for big groups or between friends. I just love this place so much & will always go back. Thank you Daldongnae team for all your hard work! 🙏🏻
