I'd love to give this place more than 3 stars but I could not.
I came here last night for to go after a long day around the town with my fiance.
I ordered the hand-cut braised pork, taiwanese sausage with egg, & braised egg rice roll, with two milk tea (pearl milk tea & hongkong milk tea).
The handcut braised pork did not look like the one I was expecting from the picture at all. It's more like a minced pork if anything. The sausage with rice & egg is very small amount of sausage that it's laughable, with a stack of rice & a piece of egg. I was expecting if I could just order sausage alone (like 3 or 5 pieces instead of one small piece of sausage with bunch of rice). Then the braised egg rice roll really did not look like the picture that we saw, even the inside looks totally different because my fiance expected only eggs in it, boy were we wrong.
Their milk tea was so so. Taste like water down milk tea. It is true I asked for low ice & low sugar but the taste of the milk tea itself wasnt strong at all. The boba tasted like hours cold boba they put in the fridge, very hard to chew. I am from Los Angeles. If I had to compare this milk tea boba with any I have tried in Los Angeles or Seattle, this is not even close to okay flavor.
After all, i'd give it 6 out of 10, maybe more like 5 to 5.5.
Had the traditional rice roll & the sausage appetizer both were a delicious mix of ingredients. Tea egg was a nice side.
Great little restaurant with authentic Chinese cuisines. Rice covered with pork & eggs in addition to a full bowl of rib soup were absolute delicacies. Great staff.
Had a braised pork chop on rice there. It was great to taste real Taiwanese flavours.
A hidden gem in Montréal! The food feels fresh, nostalgic & homemade. The service was incredibly warm & welcoming. I had the Braised Pork with Rice & Grilled Sausage, & the portions were huge!! It's enough to feed two people! Despite the big portions, I did not feel tired from eating that plate, it was a savory heaven. My friend simply ordered a side of popcorn chicken, & my god was it well seasoned. I've never tasted popcorn chicken this flavorful, though I personally would've liked it just a biiit crispier! The food was also very affordable for a student like me!
Saw some good reviews & ordered on uber, ended up pretty disappointed. The food portions are tiny. Ordered the satay beef with rice & 80% of the box were filled with just rice, with only a few pieces of beef (also very bland). The beef noodles tasted ok but there were just five pieces of beef (was expecting more for $17). The milk tea tasted fine, but the tapioca bubbles were super hard & impossible to chew :(
They have some Taiwanese dishes that are hard to find in Montreal. I'm really glad they have fried pork cutlet, braised pork chop & pork bone herbal soup...etc. The fried pork cutlet is superb with its authentic taste. Just wish the portion of vegetables was bigger & there was more sauce on the rice. The owner is really nice! Can't wait to try other dishes :)
