The sweet & spicy pork strips were amazing. The flavor was perfect & I loved the texture of the bamboo shoots & other vegetables. I also ordered the sweet & spicy eggplant, which arrived disappointingly, swimming in a pool of flavorless oil. Still, though, I'll be back!
We had the spicy fish , Yangzhou fried rice & sautee vegetables. The fish was good & so were the sauté fresh vegetables. Portions are large so be careful when you order . The fried rice was delicious
Loved the care & poetics of the online descriptions. The Sichuan Spicy pot is incredible esp. if you love Sichuan pepper like me! Can't wait to come back to try everything.
We had the sweet & spicy tofu, seasonal mixed vegetables in garlic sauce, & hot & sour soup. All were excellent. Large portions. Owner came by & shared their story. We will go back.
Very good food in town, very reasonable price considering the downtown location. liked dry fried greenbeans, sweet & spicy eggplant, & broccoli with beef very much, not so much on the cumin beef & noodle salad though.
The food is amazing here! Very authentic, tasty Chinese food with great portions. I've been twice & both times have been consistent, no matter what you order. The beef & broccoli has a light savoury flavour, & is not greasy at all with lots of crunchy fresh broccoli. The stir fried pork intestines come with onions, spicy green pepper, onions & carrots, & has a great spicy seasonings with numby peppercorns. The intestines are cooked & cleaned very well, no stinky flavours at all. The braised pork belly is always tender & flavourful, & the sweet potato noodles soak up the sauce very nicely. Each bowl of rice is only $1.50! All in all, very tasty & generous portions at affordable prices. Each dish ranges from $10-20 (even the seafood). Highly recommended, great for sharing dishes & family friendly environment.
Shout out to Aunt Dai who celebrated 10 years yesterday & surprised us with a free dinner! Our favourite Chinese food in Montreal. The best! Dry fried green beans & sweet & spicy eggplant, YUM!
I've eaten at Aunt Dai at least 25 times in the past 6 years or so. There are dishes I keep coming back to, like the excellent cumin beef, the spicy shrimps, the kung pao chicken & mapo tofu. In the past, everything was consistently delicious. But in the past two years or so, it has changed a bit. The grilled calamari, which used to be one of their best dishes, is now a total disappointment & has nothing to do with what it used to be. The last time we went, the mapo tofu was bland & uninteresting, while it was exceptional the time before that. My son chose the Singapour noodles, because he's used to eating them at home & he likes to eat what he knows. Frankly, they were barely edible; they were oversalted & bland & the noodles were way overcooked. We know that it's not an authentic Chinese dish & a little more on the bland side, but there still is the possibility to cook a nice version of it. So all in all, I used to be very confident in the dishes I ordered at Aunt Dai, but now, when I go, I'm always a bit worried that the dishes I order won't be as good as usual. Some effort should be put in making sure the different cooks deliver the same flavors.
Literally, if I come to this restaurant, the owner will know exactly what I wanna order without even lift up the menu, which is Spicy Diced Chicken. It's really a masterpiece of how to crispy fry the chicken; yet, not oily at all (unlike chickens from fast food restaurants). On top of that, the mix with Sichuan pepper generates this comfortably numb sensation on the lips; & good golly, I cant get enough of it whatsoeve
