All were amazing & at a great price; the eggplant was the overall favourite, so good & unique. The place is also very nice, looks recently renovated.
Read the positive reviews & visited for dinner. Came away underwhelmed. Nothing particularly bad, but nothing great either. Everything we ordered was flat-line on taste & flavor. Despite the forbidding, poorly kept exterior & stair landing, the interior dining area was clean. Food consisted of Vegetarian Spring Rolls (two absolutely tiny fried rolls with a flavorless yellow dipping sauce), Cumin Beef (perhaps the star of the show, relatively tender, with specks of dried chili - not at all spicy), Sweet & Spicy Eggplant (again, okay but lacked spiciness/heat & flavor), & rice, all washed down with marginally cold Tsing Tao beer. Portions were generous, service was hurried/at rapid pace for some reason, but lacked follow-up once the dishes arrived!
The meal for two set us back CAD 58+ with hefty taxes & generous tips. Not a bad place by any means, but what we had was nothing spectacular!
Came here after reading the reviews. The menu is large with plenty of options, & I chose the vegetable rolls. I also tried the cumin beef, which was spicy but can be adjusted if you ask. The rice was... The portion of beef was generous & tasted great. It was a bit oily for my taste, but overall the flavor was really good. The service was fast & welcoming.
We ordered braised pork with sweet potato noodles, general tao, ribs & a side of rice.
Braised pork with sweet potatoes noodles:
The noodles were very tasty but the braised porc lacked taste. The sauce had a watery sour taste almost bitter. I wish there were more noodles in the plate, there were about half a cup worth of noodles for maybe a cup & a half of meat. 2/10
General Tao: Very soft batter. The meat was good but there was not that much sauce. 6.5/10
Ribs: The sauce had a watery & sour taste almost bitter. 2/10
Rice: under salted. It might be a good thing if the side dishes are very flavourful but dishes we ordered were lacking flavour.
We ordered through Uber Eats & the ratings on our dishes were pretty high (90%+ with 700+ votes) so we're a bit surprised by the quality of the food we received. Maybe it was a one off.
Best General Tao In town of Montreal
Chicken Fried rice & pas Thai noodle are delicious
We had the spicy fish , Yangzhou fried rice & sautee vegetables. The fish was good & so were the sauté fresh vegetables. Portions are large so be careful when you order . The fried rice was delicious
Ordered the crispy fish & side of steamed rice. Both were very tasty. The fish had szechuan pepper spice & the was a bit fatty so you have a rich flavor. The rice was very well prepared & sticky. The price was ok - about $22. & the portion was also ok. I got full so it was good. I can recommend the spot as a quick lunch & it's possible, if not super hungry or big eater to split a main dish & rice with another.
Food, service, & atmosphere were 5 stars. Got the beef & broccoli + pork & shrimp fried rice, both were great, but the beef & broccoli exceeded all expectations. Prices were very good as well
The food is amazing here! Very authentic, tasty Chinese food with great portions. I've been twice & both times have been consistent, no matter what you order. The beef & broccoli has a light savoury flavour, & is not greasy at all with lots of crunchy fresh broccoli. The stir fried pork intestines come with onions, spicy green pepper, onions & carrots, & has a great spicy seasonings with numby peppercorns. The intestines are cooked & cleaned very well, no stinky flavours at all. The braised pork belly is always tender & flavourful, & the sweet potato noodles soak up the sauce very nicely. Each bowl of rice is only $1.50! All in all, very tasty & generous portions at affordable prices. Each dish ranges from $10-20 (even the seafood). Highly recommended, great for sharing dishes & family friendly environment.
Ordered on Uber, very tasty, but the rice portion is slightly small, would ordered 2 if I know the portion ahead.
