This is hands down my number one pastry shop in both Montreal & Toronto. My history with this place goes back many years it's actually where my love for pastries really started. The variety & quality you get here is on another level & honestly something I haven't found anywhere else.
The staff are always friendly & helpful. The shop does get very busy on weekends, & it's common to see a lineup for pastries, which honestly says a lot about how good they are. That said, the seating area & washrooms are quite small for the number of customers they get, so it's not the most comfortable place to hang out during peak times.
My go-to pastries are the classic croissant, almond croissant, & chocolate croissant, but I've tried many other items over the years & loved every single one. Everything is baked fresh, & with the volume of customers they have, pastries don't sit around for long.
Huge shoutout to the bakers seriously amazing work. & lucky are the people who live in this neighborhood & get to have this place so close by. One small note: the coffee is decent, but there's definitely room for improvement.
Overall, an absolute must-visit for pastry lovers. 🥐
We ate everything in the store, but it was too hot inside.
They heated up the food before serving. I had the croissant, chocolate cake, & café latte. Everything was so delicious! The croissant was bigger than ones from other bakeries.
There was still a variety of items available when I visited around 12:30 pm on a Tuesday, though they were running low on a few things. I got the chocolate eclair & the almond croissant.
Chocolate eclair: The ganache on top was fantastic, but the chocolate filling didn't taste like anything, & it was grainy. The choux itself was too soggy. Pretty disappointing overall, wouldn't recommend.
Almond croissant: This was fan-freakin-tastic. It was definitely a few hours old at this point since it was one of only a few left, but magically IT WAS STILL CRISPY & FLAKY. That crust on top, the moist interior, the flavor of the almond paste 🤌 As expected, Croissant Monkland knows how to make a good almond croissant.
Whenever I'm in the area, I grab a pastry here. I got an almond & a chocolate & almond pastry today. Delicious! I took some olive bread for tomorrow. I haven't tried it yet but it looks & smells good. :)
I always wanted to come in this place, passing by quite often. It was very pretty inside & they had a lot of nice pastries. I got a bunch for about 34$ which is very good in my opinion. The mousse au chocolate & framboise, lemon tart, & baguettes were all good. The service could bave been a bit better, as they were jumping back & forth, but it's probably how busy they are.

I tried croissant with hot chocolate, food is fine. however server didn't put much thought into us dining in, as they were closing in 1 hour. No plates or tissues provided..
This is a darling, local gem! The croissants are the perfect blend of sweet & savory. Many bakeries just add a ton of sugar to make up for a lack of complexity or sometimes overdo it on both. Yet, Croissant Monkland strikes the balance. It's always nice to stop in, but I'm a bit of a ways away & order online once a week. Online orders are quick & consistent, only twice has an order been screwed up but even then, still delicious. Highly recommend - especially if you're a chocolate lover: the chocolatine aumande croissants are dangerous!
