You enter the Crew Collective, & you truly get that feeling of being in an old royal bank. We decided to stop by to get a coffee, the service was very good, but not all the coffees. The Latte dulce de leche was great, but their cold brew was very underwhelming. It was extremely light & tasted like watery coffee. Also, if you were planning on studying there, I would not recommend it, since they only have a ew designated spots where laptops are allowed. They have a no-laptop policy in the main seating areas. Overall, it was a nice experience, especially visually, but unfortunately, for the drinks, the price paid for them did not pay off what they tasted like.
We ordered a latte, a flat white & a hot chocolate. Two came in take out cups even though we ordered for here. The latte was a bit too milky, the flat white was way too milky & not even hot, the hot chocolate was just okay despite the over $6 price. Disappointed. Wouldn't come again for the drinks, but the setting, seating & building were lovely.
If you don't mind a small wait, the pasteries are amazing & the coffee of the best I've ever had. The atmospere is stunning with ample seating behind the'teller booths'.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Crew Collective & Café
Such a cool coffee shop - hands down one of my favorite stops in Montreal. It's built inside an old Royal Bank building, & the atmosphere is just unreal. Gorgeous space, tons of seating, & even private rooms if you want to study or work quietly.
The coffee was great, the vibe was amazing, & there's plenty of room to settle in without feeling rushed. I honestly couldn't get enough of this place - I wanted to stay all day.
If you're in Montreal, this is a must-visit. Beautiful setting, awesome energy, & a perfect spot to relax, work, or just soak it all in. ☕✨
Lovely, lovely place where you're not rushed to leave. Food runs out by 5-6 pm & they close at 8 pm. Great for early risers! Lots of comfortable seating options. Ideal for coffee, reading, browsing & chatting. 2 minute-walk from Square-Victoria metro.
The place was beautiful as expected. So much bigger than I thought. So much seating. The bathrooms are all the way down stairs. Very interesting. The coffee was really great. One of the best in Montreal. I had luck finding a few vegan baked goods. But very limited. Pretty decent.
We found this place in Old Montréal & what a find. It looks like the foyer to an old train station you would see in movies. High arches with beautifully designed ceilings & details with high, arched windows for lots of daylight. The seating in the front is mostly cafe style, bench & padded chairs, but if you look for the doorway to the seating area behind the counter, you'll find a quieter area full of sofas & big, comfy chairs. I ordered a chai latte & the three cheese grilled cheese sandwich with a puckle relish. The bread was light & crunchy & the relish was a nice touch. A very relaxing, & pleasant place for a rest & bite. 10 out of 10.
I usually don't leave reviews but I must say, your no laptop policy is ridiculous. I went for the first time today, the staff was super friendly & the building is amazing, the seats & the food are great as well. I went & sat down where it was relatively quiet, enjoyed my coffee & cream cheese bagel. I then took out my laptop to write a quick mail to my prof, I didn't even open my laptop yet when a staff member told me & another girl that we should move to another area with our laptops. They were nice & patient but also in a rush. I have never been here before so I didn't know where the other seating area was & the other girl also didn't know. It was busy & there was noone available to ask at the moment, so we both left. The situation made us as customers feel like we did something wrong. I am only writing this because it was very discouraging. Maybe you can put signs somewhere at the entrance so people know about the laptop & laptop free zones when coming in & make the signs visible even when it is crowded, not when they are already seated. I thought it was possible to go here to work. It felt a little bit like being kicked out, which is not a good feeling, especially as a Person Of Color.
Very unique place to enjoy some coffee & pastry! The food & drinks options are kind of limited but I believe people come here purely for the environment.
The outer area are meant for people to book & do work while the center area is free seating for cafe customers.
Service was ok, nothing bad or outstanding.
Service is fast. Got a latte & all I could taste was milk. Tried the dulce de leche & pecan cookie & it wad amazing. The place is very nice & has lots of seating.
Must try!! The hot chocolate & iced latte were both great & there was plenty of intimate/private seating areas. Amazing architecture & decor.
Imagine showing up to a cafe paying 18$ for a grilled cheese & sitting down to do some work & being told you cant be on your laptop because of tourists. Apparently there is a new policy written god knows where that prohibits you from using a laptop or ipad in a certain seating zone. If you want to work you gotta hide behind this curtained off area so you are not caught in a tourists instagram story. Rude & arrogant staff what a shame this place has become.
Went on a whim at 9am during the week day & the lines were moving fast . There's a lot an entire section behind the counter that had more seating if you don't see anything in the front .
Great coffee , food & ambiance . I enjoyed the chill music playing during the morning rush .
Staff were attentive & friendly :)
The beautiful architecture & soaring ceilings are worth a visit just for their beauty. The remainder of the cafe is equally impressive, utilizing bank teller windows & counters for the counterspace. The seating area is plentiful, with polite notes to enjoy your food & the ambiance without setting up workstations. The breakfast was fine, but to be honest - it wasn't really the point of the visit. An absolute gem. I can't wait to return to experience it again.
Great atmosphere, but can get crowded with long lines & limited table seating. Iced Pistachio latte & raisin danish were nice.
Beautiful place to take lots of pictures, & to work, as they have assigned areas for those who want to change their work environment. The bagels are small as you can see. I had a strawberry smoothie which came in a bottle, but still was refreshing. The grilled cheese could've been more cheesy. Also, limited seating!!
Coffee was really good. Food was good also. Line moved very quickly but seating is limited. Lots & lots of tourists. Building is beautiful but the area of the coffee shop is relatively small.
I had the pleasure of visiting Crew Collective & Cafe L today, & I can honestly say it's one of the best coffee experiences I've ever had. The baristas were friendly & knowledgeable, taking the time to explain their different roasts & even suggesting a drink based on my preferences.
I tried their dulce de leche , & it was absolutely perfect - smooth, balanced, & rich with flavor. The latte art was a beautiful touch too! The shop itself has a cozy & historical vibe, with plenty of seating options for both individuals & groups. Plus, their selection of pastries was a great addition to the coffee.
What really stands out about this place is the attention to detail & the level of care they put into everything they do. I'll definitely be coming back for more, & I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates high-quality coffee & a great environment to relax or work.
When I visited, I wanted to try their croissant they ran out 😭, but I tried a bagel with butter, cream cheese, & jam-& wow! It was incredible. Highly recommend!
The coffee was below average & chocolate pastry was good but fairly standard. It's also very overpriced.
I wasn't entirely satisfied with the seating arrangement. I understand it's a café & co-working space, but most seats were occupied by people working for hours, without needing to make any reservation. This left little room for those who simply wanted to enjoy a coffee or meal. I even noticed a gentleman uncomfortably sitting on a bench in the corner, holding his bowl of soup because there were no tables available to set it down.
I would give a 4 if the seating situation was better!
Generally, the quality of the coffee was exceptional. I highly recommend a cappuccino with a sandwich if you plan to work at the café for a long time, they have long-term seating, which is great. The ambiance of the bank was just really nice & it did not disappoint. I did find it to be a little bit more on the expensive side, but it is worth it.
