I met an angel a few weeks ago! Her name is Nor...
I have to share my newfound secret for the very best ice cream & desserts in Montreal!
Chocolaterie Chocomax!
From the moment you walk in, you're treated like family. Nor & her family are the kindest, most genuine, & beautiful people you'll ever meet-inside & out. Nor's passion shines through in every single dessert she creates.
Everything is homemade with incredible care & quality, from the rich, creamy ice cream & refreshing sorbets to the decadent brownies, cookies, & handcrafted chocolates.
You can truly taste the love & dedication in every bite.
I raved so much about Chocolaterie Chocomax after my first visit that I had to bring my husband & our friends back the second time so they could experience it too! Needless to say, they loved it just as much as I do.
I also love supporting a family-run business where customer service still means something. The warmth, hospitality, & attention to detail make every visit feel special.
If you're looking for an unforgettable dessert experience, look no further. Chocolaterie Chocomax has earned a customer for life. Thank you, Nor & family for creating such an amazing place. I can't wait for my next visit!

10/10
Had two sccops, coconut mango & blueberry cheesecake. It was delicious, creamy with natural rich flavours. First time here with 2 friends who know the place & will be back. Nice family run & hospitable owners
I rarely leave any negative reviews, but this one is worth noting about. I returned back to this place after noticing I was overcharged for my order. I was very polite & was kindly explaining the mischarge to the employee who had served me the day before. The owner's son took notice of our conversation & approached me very rudely & became confrontational & disrespectful. He called me a scammer for questioning the price, without taking the time to properly review the receipt or address my concern. I felt berated & cornered in & asked my husband to come inside with me. The owner's son then became so aggressive that his own family members had to physically restrain him. It was quite shocking as my husband had our baby with him. Just be careful of this place before you go & make sure to check the price as they charge you higher than the actual price!
Response:
Thank you for your response, but several statements are simply not accurate.
I returned the next day, not three days later. I also never ordered a regular scoop. Every scoop I purchased was a baby scoop, yet I was charged for regular scoops. I raised the issue politely, but instead of reviewing the receipt, I was called a scammer.
The claims that my husband made threats are also false. He was with our baby & did not threaten anyone. The statement that police were involved is also untrue.
Please don't apologize to me. Instead, I hope your son learns how to speak to customers & coworkers with professionalism & respect. My review reflects my genuine experience, & I stand by it.
Kind & beautiful family owning the shop.
The owner is so kind & generous.
I love going there with my son in the winter.
I should definitely go there more often 😉
This is place is a gem. A staple in Saint-Laurent for 30+years.
Family owned & operated chocolatier & ice-cream parlour. Everything is made in-house & served by friendly family members who take pride in their products.
Highly recommended!
Absolutely love Yummy Gelato near Du Collège station! Every time I go, I have to get the Ginger, Sesame, & Pistachio - the Pistachio even looks like Matcha! The gelato is homemade daily by the friendly family owners. Always fresh, always delicious. A hidden gem! 🍦💚
They serve gelato here! & not just any gelato... amazing home-made gelato! What a great place to come on a summer day or especially evening to choose 2 or 3 scoops of their different flavours in a sugar cone & then sit in one of their cute comfortable patio chairs & small patio table & watch life go by in the heart of Saint-Laurent on a huge sidewalk made just for this purpose. After I get through all of their gelato flavours, I'll start on the chocolate, which looks just as amazing. A very hospitable son told me that this is a family run shop around for 35 years, mom is a trained chef, & there are classic French crêpes coming this fall. Stay tuned.
DISAPPOINTING. I've been going to chocomax since i was a little girl. used to be owned by a passionate man who loved the craft of making chocolate & gelato/used to be the best gelato in town. now it feels overpriced, the service is bad, prices unclear/seems like they force you to tip or something. stomach ache immediately. was so excited to visit from out of town & have a proper milkshake…well now it's a 10$ cup of milk that was too sweet to finish. no ice-cream in there to shake. Never been so disappointed with a gelato spot in my life. I MISS THE OLD CHOCOMAX made with love, not with greed.
*****added after the response from establishment below:
based on the passive aggressive response, pretty in-line with the service received in general, please don't worry about what i will & won't be reading. I obviously don't plan on coming back. appreciate the friendly & family-oriented response that, don't worry, has been screenshotted. my mistake to assume a 10$ milkshake would contain more than just milk & sugar. good luck with the business, too bad it was sold to whoever is running it now, leaving such professional & apologetic responses.
PS i would have skipped through but the server clicked buttons behind the counter, inside a drawer & hidden, then she clicked through the card machine herself. i didn't even have a chance to touch the machine at all which felt very sketchy to me.
Don't miss this place otherwise you will regret. Hidden Gem for artisan chocolate & gelato ice cream in VSL area:) Such enjoy the atmosphere, lovely welcome & cleam!Family business so people who works here really nice & generous :D I would really recommend dark chocolate mix flavored kunefe with pistachios! Wonderful design & inspiration! For gelato, pls try Achata- which is the best! For no dairy try Blood orange sorbet. Owner bought orange from France, their pistachio which also import from Sicilia-Italy. Well personally enjoy black sesame, rum raisin, banana!! Both of the flavor were my favorites.
Amazing local homemade chocolate & ice cream. Family oriented business that puts a lot of effort & investment into their craft. Great service & staff. High quality product & great atmosphere.
