Review Summary

Chez Nick is a long standing Westmount institution that offers a nostalgic, classic diner experience characterized by its warm atmosphere and friendly, attentive service. Many patrons praise the restaurant for its consistent quality, hearty comfort food, and iconic menu items like the club sandwich, Reuben, and breakfast staples. While the majority of visitors feel welcomed into a community that treats guests like family, experiences can occasionally vary due to the busy nature of the venue or isolated service lapses. Overall, the establishment remains a popular destination for those seeking an authentic, vintage dining environment that has successfully served the local neighborhood for over a century.

eggs benedict was sooo good! i loved the potatoes & the eggs were poached perfectly. the iced latte was more like an iced coffee; tbh i would advise to just stick to their regular coffee & just not get espresso drinks probably. definitely a bit pricey, it was over $60 for two basic drinks & two mains.

I absolutely love coming to this historic restaurant for weekend brunch. The menu offers a fantastic variety of classic breakfast dishes that are consistently delicious. Their eggs benedict & fluffy pancakes are my personal favorites, always served hot & fresh. Despite being very busy on Sunday mornings, the service remains remarkably efficient & friendly. It is the perfect spot for a comforting meal in a charming neighborhood setting.

Very tasty, nice atmosphere!
Surprisingly not accommodating vegetarian options (only sides for eggs is meaty: choose sausage, pork or bacon). In fact, makes you pay 8$ extra to replace the meat with mushrooms & a slice of fresh tomato🤔..not cool for a friendly place. Planning to come back though for a better experience as food is tasty :)

The service was truly impeccable. Every member of their staff treats every customer in the building like their own. The spinach in the eggs benedict was watery & not great in taste but everything else was good. The coffee not being included in the breakfast meal & being a little on the pricier side (4$) is a bummer but they are very quick to refill to your heart's desire. I'd absolutely go back just for the service though. The staff were outstanding.

If you're looking to spend your morning surrounded by the quiet hum of Westmount privilege & the scent of generational wealth, Chez Nick is the absolute pinnacle of the Montreal diner experience. I've never felt more like a character in a Mordecai Richler novel while questioning my own tax bracket.
Chez Nick has been around since 1920, & walking in feels like a time capsule-if that time capsule was meticulously maintained & filled with people who own at least three different types of cashmere.
The Coffee: Finally, a diner that doesn't serve brown-tinted water. The coffee is aggressively strong-enough to make you reconsider every life choice you've made since the 90s-yet it manages to be incredibly smooth with absolutely zero bitterness. It's the kind of caffeine kick that makes you feel productive enough to actually read the Financial Post left on the counter.
The Pancakes: I'm convinced these are actually made of edible clouds. They are impossibly fluffy & have a subtle, refined sweetness that makes maple syrup feel like an optional (but mandatory) luxury. I had to hold mine down with a fork just to keep them from drifting toward the ceiling.
The Atmosphere: Perfectly'Westmount.' You get the classic diner vibe with vinyl booths & counter seating, but with the added bonus of hearing neighbors discuss their upcoming trips to the Hamptons.
The Service: Brisk, efficient, & wonderfully unimpressed by whoever you think you are. They've been serving the city for over a century, so don't expect them to be dazzled by your presence-just enjoy your eggs & keep the line moving.
It's the only place in the city where you can pay a premium for a club sandwich & leave feeling like you've made a solid investment in your own happiness. Highly recommend if you enjoy great food & feeling slightly less wealthy than everyone else in the room.

Worst service of life, normally it's great I heard but we were a party of 6, somehow they gave out the wrong food to each of us, wrong orders, not the right food, I did not get my juice I ordered…. & then they said my other drink would be complimentary cause the order was so screwed up but I ended up paying 32 dollars for one bagel, hot chocolate, fries & one 9 dollar fruit cup that consisted of like 2 cut strawberries & canned pineapple. Just nottt fantastic.

BUTTT the servers were really nice to us it was literally just that issue. So I would recommend if you're an adult & like eggs

My grandparents used to take me & my mom out to Chez Nick's all the time. My grandfather is no longer with us, but since we were in town, we stopped by for nostalgia's sake. The decor hasn't changed much & it doesn't have to; it's timeless. The staff were just as friendly as I remember. & the food--eggs, potatoes, & smoked meat--was really delicious. When the waitstaff learned how nostalgic the restaurant is in our family, the offered to take a photo. Thanks for a great meal!
