Review Summary

Chez Nick is described as a long-standing Westmount neighborhood staple with a warm diner vibe and dependable comfort food, where friendly, attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere shine, though experiences vary. Some recent Uber Eats orders were disappointing, with overs salted or incomplete dishes and menu changes causing confusion, while other visits highlighted consistently good meals, from classic sandwiches and hearty breakfasts to soups and club options. Overall the reviews frame Chez Nick as a nostalgic, approachable spot that feels like a community hub, offering value in a cozy setting despite occasional missteps and price considerations.

Chez Nick is without a doubt one of the best casual dining experiences you can have in the area. The interior has a wonderful vintage feel that makes you want to sit & stay awhile. We had a lovely family dinner here, enjoying everything from their classic burgers to their amazing homemade pies for dessert. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great time & provided excellent recommendations. Five stars for food & hospitality.

If you are looking for a reliable & satisfying meal in Westmount, you cannot go wrong with Chez Nick. This place has maintained its high standards & cozy diner charm for decades. I recently stopped by for lunch & ordered a classic club sandwich with a side of crispy fries, & everything was incredibly fresh & tasty. The portions are very generous & the pricing is reasonable for the quality. Highly recommend to locals & tourists alike.

I absolutely love coming to this historic restaurant for weekend brunch. The menu offers a fantastic variety of classic breakfast dishes that are consistently delicious. Their eggs benedict & fluffy pancakes are my personal favorites, always served hot & fresh. Despite being very busy on Sunday mornings, the service remains remarkably efficient & friendly. It is the perfect spot for a comforting meal in a charming neighborhood setting.

Chez Nick is the neighborhood place everyone ends up at sooner or later. Great food, a great vibe, & the kind of spot that always feels welcoming.

Special shout-out to Andrew, the friendly face who greeted you at the door for years & a true staple at Chez Nick. Everyone knows Andrew. His charm & personality were a huge part of what made the place feel so warm.

Enjoy retirement, Andrew - & thanks to the whole Chez Nick team for keeping this neighborhood classic going strong.

If you're looking to spend your morning surrounded by the quiet hum of Westmount privilege & the scent of generational wealth, Chez Nick is the absolute pinnacle of the Montreal diner experience. I've never felt more like a character in a Mordecai Richler novel while questioning my own tax bracket.
Chez Nick has been around since 1920, & walking in feels like a time capsule-if that time capsule was meticulously maintained & filled with people who own at least three different types of cashmere.
The Coffee: Finally, a diner that doesn't serve brown-tinted water. The coffee is aggressively strong-enough to make you reconsider every life choice you've made since the 90s-yet it manages to be incredibly smooth with absolutely zero bitterness. It's the kind of caffeine kick that makes you feel productive enough to actually read the Financial Post left on the counter.
The Pancakes: I'm convinced these are actually made of edible clouds. They are impossibly fluffy & have a subtle, refined sweetness that makes maple syrup feel like an optional (but mandatory) luxury. I had to hold mine down with a fork just to keep them from drifting toward the ceiling.
The Atmosphere: Perfectly'Westmount.' You get the classic diner vibe with vinyl booths & counter seating, but with the added bonus of hearing neighbors discuss their upcoming trips to the Hamptons.
The Service: Brisk, efficient, & wonderfully unimpressed by whoever you think you are. They've been serving the city for over a century, so don't expect them to be dazzled by your presence-just enjoy your eggs & keep the line moving.
It's the only place in the city where you can pay a premium for a club sandwich & leave feeling like you've made a solid investment in your own happiness. Highly recommend if you enjoy great food & feeling slightly less wealthy than everyone else in the room.
