not my favourite poutine i've had here but not bad. i personally like my fries on the crispier side & found these to be incredibly soft, & the gravy itself wasn't as flavourful as i heard it'd be. maybe we just came on an off day? but the cheese curds were amazing though & quite squeaky! the waitress was lovely & we were able to get a table for 6 people pretty fast on a weekday too. overall probably wouldnt come back specifically for the poutine, but perhaps for the other items!
Dommage...
Some of the best poutine in Montreal. The gravy is strong, thick, well-spiced, & fills every crevice of the plate. The curds are squeaky, firm, but still tasty. The fries are where Chez Claudette becomes contentious. Double-fried, a bit smaller, & crunchier & more uniform in size than your classic poutine, they are a matter of taste. I felt that they matched the gravy & curds well, though they were not my typical style.
The staff & look of the place (not to mention the washroom) are not exactly friendly, but feel cozy & fitting in their own uncanny way. Not to say the staff were not polite & professional in every way, but it may be a bit of a surprise depending on where you are from.
Nice varieties of poutine with affordable prices. I ordered a small regular poutine & the portion was generous. I personally find the fries a bit overcooked but the gravy & cheese curds were delicious.

I got the classic & my husband got the Marilyn. The fries were flavourful & I enjoyed the gravy. I personally prefer a more crispy fry for my poutine, but these were not soggy either per se. There could've been more cheese. But the cheese that was there had a nice pull. Overall, I enjoyed my poutine.
When fries, squeaky cheese curds, gravy, ham, sausage & bacon all show up to the same party-it's called the Spécial Clau.
This isn't a cheat meal. It's a full-blown delicious rebellion. 😬
We stopped into Chez Claudette to try their highly recommended poutine. With no shortage of options on the menu, we did our best to navigate it with our limited French since there wasn't an English menu available. We ended up ordering the smoked chicken poutine. While I would've loved to get more adventurous, my partner prefers to stick to the basics. The food was okay. The gravy was flavorful, & the cheese curds had the satisfying squeak you hope for, but the chicken was just average, & the fries were softer & soggier than we would have liked but the prices were reasonable & fair. The atmosphere was reminiscent of a casual pizza or Italian takeout spot, nothing remarkable, but clean enough. Service was average as well
Chez Claudette is such a delightful spot & truly a must-visit for any foodie in Montreal! The charming exterior welcomes you inside, where you'll find a menu filled with delicious & super affordable comfort food classics-from hot dogs to hamburger steak to lasagna. But let's talk about the real star here: their poutines! They serve up the best poutine ever, with crispy fries, rich savory gravy, & just the right amount of cheese curds. It's a dream come true for poutine & fries lovers! I couldn't resist trying the "Grilled Chicken" poutine topped with bacon, along with a fluffy egg omelet, & oh boy, it was absolutely heavenly! The portions are generous, too, without breaking the bank. The service is fantastic, & the dining area is clean & spacious, making it such a pleasant experience. If you ever find yourself in Montreal, you absolutely owe it to yourself to stop by. I can't wait to go back on my next trip!

Try the ( Quebecois) .... Being from Niagara in Ontario, we were looking for more of an authentic poutine that locals would eat. Parking was difficult to find, but the neighborhood is charming & safe. Worth the walk The food... Best poutine I have ever had. It wasn't a plate of gravy/cheese/fries. You can get that there, but they offer 2 pages of poutine options. Featuring local favourites. The ( Quebecois) is chicken, bacon, mushrooms , fries , cheese curds, with peas sprinkled on top. Not overly salted, just right, hearty, somewhat healthy & delicious. 5 stars all the way.... 👍
Food is not as what I expected. The texture of the gravy is not what I love so it disappointed me. However, the people are really friendly which can compensate a little bit.
Was looking forward to having poutine here as it was on the top 10 list. There was only one lady working the tables & take out orders. We were seated relatively quickly but it took a really long time to order. We ordered the classic poutine & also the smoked Meat poutine. Overall it was decent but not amazing. The gravy could have been hotter to melt the cheese curds. They forgot our drink order but they took it off the bill. They definitely need more than one server & not take customers for granted.
I think this place must have been an institution but we had burgers made from frozen preformed patties, fries which came from a frozen bag of fries that went straight into the fryer, & finally a poutine from a top 10 poutine spot which had bland flavourless gravy with cheese that melted & wasn't squeaky. I was really disappointed after all of the recommendations. The service was great. The front of house were veterans & despite a new POS system that wasn't working great, pushed the crowds through to serve.

Best poutine in MTL, with the best variety & prices. The portions are generous (not just the fries, every ingredient is). The gravy is great because it's homemade.
Was really excited to try Chez Claudette. Heard great things. Unfortunately, the poutine didn't hit right for me. The texture of the gravy was very unusual. Super viscous consistency that kind of ruined it for me. Was my first poutine in Montreal so maybe that's how they like it out there? Either way, not my favorite. On the plus side, the staff was very nice.
