Reviews depict Chez Claudette as a Montreal institution for authentic, generously portioned poutine at affordable prices, with a cozy retro diner vibe and friendly, efficient service that many visitors find welcoming. The menu is varied and features other Quebec staples like hot dogs and grilled cheese, and the poutines are often praised for hearty portions, squeaky cheese curds, and a flavorful gravy, with several readers calling it among the best poutine in the city. While most feedback is positive and highlights good value and consistency, some comments point to occasional service slowdowns, inconsistent experiences, and a few days when certain items did not hit the mark, including issues with fries or sauce. Overall, the place is described as a reliable, bustling spot where guests can enjoy generous portions, a classic ambiance, and a strong sense of authenticity that keeps people returning.
Nice varieties of poutine with affordable prices. I ordered a small regular poutine & the portion was generous. I personally find the fries a bit overcooked but the gravy & cheese curds were delicious.

Can't beat Chez Claudette for cheap greasy quebecois food. Regardless, of whether you want a poutine, burger, or hot dog, this is the place to get large portions for cheap.
From my understanding, this restaurant still looks as it did when it opened, featuring a very retro, diner-esque style.
For service, the staff are very nice, however they can be a little slow regarding receiving the bill. But the restaurant offers a great vibe so you barely feel the wait.

J'avais demandé 2 steamés all dress/cayenne & un bébé poutine...
The old service lady was very angry & rude, idk why!! They did a mistake with our order & when we asked for the correct order she threw the forks & plate on our table!! Is it normal?!?!? When I asked for a bag to take my leftover with me she said you are supposed to bring your own bag!!!! The food also was not in a good quality, So definitely not a recommended place

The service from the old lady left a bad taste in my mouth, I couldn't eat my food for a couple hours after I picked it up; I was pissed.
Bring your francophone friend, so they can translate what is being said to you or about you; that old lady is super rude. That being said, the younger blonde lady seemed fairly nice, wish I could have tipped her & the rest of the team well.
My friend assumed it was racism, because apparently the older generation of the population in Quebec are thought to be racist towards indigenous people.
I stopped here after work in a rush, & I couldn't believe how great the food & the service was. I made a mistake when ordering & they were understanding & kind. The poutine was so delicious that I may make this my go to spot!!
