Reviews depict Chez Claudette as a Montreal institution for authentic, generously portioned poutine at affordable prices, with a cozy retro diner vibe and friendly, efficient service that many visitors find welcoming. The menu is varied and features other Quebec staples like hot dogs and grilled cheese, and the poutines are often praised for hearty portions, squeaky cheese curds, and a flavorful gravy, with several readers calling it among the best poutine in the city. While most feedback is positive and highlights good value and consistency, some comments point to occasional service slowdowns, inconsistent experiences, and a few days when certain items did not hit the mark, including issues with fries or sauce. Overall, the place is described as a reliable, bustling spot where guests can enjoy generous portions, a classic ambiance, and a strong sense of authenticity that keeps people returning.
Dommage!
Food is not as what I expected. The texture of the gravy is not what I love so it disappointed me. However, the people are really friendly which can compensate a little bit.

L'une des institutions de la Poutine à Montréal. L'ambiance & le goûts & le rapports qualités prix font grandement plaisir. Sans doute l'une des meilleures poutine classique en villlle. Il y est également possible de déguster Hot dog & pogo.
Love it! The quaint diner atmosphere was very homy, & the food portions are very generous. No wait to get seated either & it's not crowded. Worth the trip for tourists like myself who wants to try something more authentic.

Very difficult to find a parking nearby the restaurant. But it's definitely WORHTY to pay a visit!! Poutines are very delicious, food are priced reasonably, Servers & chef are very attentive, restaurant & restrooms are clean & well maintained. Highly recommended!!
Was looking forward to having poutine here as it was on the top 10 list. There was only one lady working the tables & take out orders. We were seated relatively quickly but it took a really long time to order. We ordered the classic poutine & also the smoked Meat poutine. Overall it was decent but not amazing. The gravy could have been hotter to melt the cheese curds. They forgot our drink order but they took it off the bill. They definitely need more than one server & not take customers for granted.
I think this place must have been an institution but we had burgers made from frozen preformed patties, fries which came from a frozen bag of fries that went straight into the fryer, & finally a poutine from a top 10 poutine spot which had bland flavourless gravy with cheese that melted & wasn't squeaky. I was really disappointed after all of the recommendations. The service was great. The front of house were veterans & despite a new POS system that wasn't working great, pushed the crowds through to serve.
Service BEAUCOUP TROP LENT. Sa manque de personnel on attend longtemps à chaque étape, entre le placement, la commande, & le paiement. En revanche la nourriture bénéficie d'un bon rapport qualité prix.
