Une institution montréalaise. Rien de moins. Je n'y étais pas allé depuis quelques années... & quelle agréable façon de renouer avec le célèbre resto sur Laurier! J'arrive à l'ouverture des portes, un lundi, 16h00 pile, suis accueilli chaleureusement, prends place à une table, reçois un verre d'eau, commande & reçois mon plat à peine 6 minutes plus tard. Ça, c'est du service! La portion est franchement généreuse & je suis étonné par la quantité & la grosseur des morceaux de fromage en grains (de très bonne qualité, soit dit en passant). Mais avec une poutine, la sauce est ce qui fait toute la différence & celle de Claudette mérite une note de A. Je n'avais pas bouffé de la journée & j'ai eu de la difficulté à terminer mon assiette tellement la portion était imposante! Le service est impec & les gens qui travaillent à cette adresse sont très gentils, courtois & sympathiques... & j'ajouterais même drôles dans certains cas! Expérience positive. Je n'attendrai pas des années avant de revenir ici.
On ne peut pas qualifier ce lieu d'attrape touriste car la promesse est tenue : de la poutine à tous les goûts ! Assiettes généreuses, prix largement acceptables, bon service. Cependant, les poutines restent plus "fastfood" que bien cuisinées (& frites surgelées).

Curious to try poutine, & this was the bomb! First, petite is not really small, it is substantial, you must be hungry to finish. Four of us got four different styles & they were all absolutely delicious. I can't recommend this enough.

Try the ( Quebecois) .... Being from Niagara in Ontario, we were looking for more of an authentic poutine that locals would eat. Parking was difficult to find, but the neighborhood is charming & safe. Worth the walk The food... Best poutine I have ever had. It wasn't a plate of gravy/cheese/fries. You can get that there, but they offer 2 pages of poutine options. Featuring local favourites. The ( Quebecois) is chicken, bacon, mushrooms , fries , cheese curds, with peas sprinkled on top. Not overly salted, just right, hearty, somewhat healthy & delicious. 5 stars all the way.... 👍
Saw this place on You Got To Eat Here. The poutine was worth the travel to get there. Its a diner experience. We took the metro & got off at the Laurier stop. Honestly one of the better meals we had in Montreal. They need to get beer back on the menu & ice for their water, especially on a hot summer day. If they had those two items would have given them a 5. Our waitress was friendly & the food came out quick.
On dit que le restaurant chez Claudette n'est connu que des gens du quartier. C'est totalement faux ! c'est une institution à peine arrivé à Montréal je parle de poutine on me dit "chez Claudette !!!" Effectivement : choix, qualité des produits, service ultra sympathique,mais pas de chichi dans la salle, table classique chaise classique & c'est parti ON SE RÉGALE !
